If Obama truly wants to find spending cuts, how about start with cutting the salaries of all politicians by 50% and eliminating expense accounts, then eliminate sending money that we obviously don't have, to foreign countries. A show of support during a struggling economy would have been nice. Michelle could have postponed leaving for a few of their vacations until Hubby was ready to go.

Federalism to some degree is fine however the federal government needs the ability to effectively carry out its mandated powers. The articles failed there are some things the states cannot do. You need to combine executive and legislative powers into one branch of government at the federal level.

That being said the base for actual manufacturing was in Britain and Germany. Americans were supportive of the system but were not its creators. Monarchy is pretty irrelevant as most supported private property due to the strong land holdings of their aristocratic supporters. The Luftwafffe failed to make gains in britain because of RAF forces it had nothing to do with the US saving it. Britain, Russia and the US all contributed to the defeat of Hitler though Russia clearly gave the most.

@hellotommy I want people to be able to tell the government what to do. I do not want a federal government that is so institutionally divided the will of the voters is ignored. Federalism to some degree is fine however the federal government needs the ability to effectively carry out its mandated powers. The articles failed there are some things the states cannot do. You need to combine executive and legislative powers into one branch of government at the federal level.

The States ask the fed to help, as in disaster relief etc. Example; if you want to pay 50% of your income to keep illegal’s on the dole you can move to California. And if you don't want to pay income taxes you can move to Texas. It’s a Constitutional Republic not a Social Democracy. It's not the feds job to tell us what light bulb to use. That being said the base for actual manufacturing was in Britain and Germany. Americans were supportive of the system but were not its creators. I would also like to remind you that your coastal republic was split between aristotelian agrarianism and lockean capitalism until the 1860s.

@winikten1 Economic evolutions take time. To say that europes first industrial revolution occured to late is trying to prove a negative. It occured and no doubt benefited from colonial trade. Monarchy is pretty irrelevant as most supported private property due to the strong land holdings of their aristocratic supporters. Private property was key to creating a credit based system where entreprenurs could experiment with new methods of production.

@winikten1 I was refering to ww1 but if you wish to talk about ww2 fine. Hitler hoped to mount an invasion of britain in late 1940 using the luftwaffe. The Luftwafffe failed to make gains in britain because of RAF forces it had nothing to do with the US saving it. Other than a few skirmishes here and there the US had a farily small part in the western war until 1944. Britain, Russia and the US all contributed to the defeat of Hitler though Russia clearly gave the most.

Alberta finished 1st of all Canadian provinces and U.S. states. Canada has more economic freedom than America. Im not really interested in economics as Im more concerned with the institutional structure of govt. @hellotommy Red tape that prevents the bureaucracy from functioning propely must also be eliminated. America needs to focus on creating a technocratic bureaucracy. Ive said it many times americas government is not too big it is too inefficent.
