  • Thanks so much! This video helped out alot! :0D Yay I can fix my jeans now!

  • The TLC show 'What Not To Wear' frequently mentions the necessity for pant waistband alterations, especially for jeans. You have covered all the key points: Needle size, increasing the stitch length for the top stitching, walking the needle through all the thick layers to help avoid breaking the needle, and the tip for decreasing the thickness on the French seam. This is a great tutorial by someone who knows what they are doing. Thank you for sharing your expertise.

  • great instructions thank you so much

  • THANK YOU so much I can't believe I have never tried this. You made it look sooo easy and can you imagine how much money we can save with buying jeans for less and altering them I really appreciate this!! Your instructions are so easy to follow and I am book marking these videos for future reference but you made it so easy I bet I will be able to remember it!

  • I really needed this because I was doing it all wrong. I have a thin waist and huge bottom. thanks a bunch!!!

  • Thanks again. You've demystified this. I have an ancient Pfaff, so will take your advice to use a heavier needle, and I'll start with corduroys, which are softer.

  • THANK YOU!! Great instructions!! You have saved me much misery and tailoring costs. What size needle and thread weight do you use? Thanks, again!!!

  • @FineWhiner

I'm glad this was helpful. The needle I used was a standard size #14 on an industrial machine you may need a #16 on a regular machine the thread was regular all purpose but you can also use the thread available for topstitching denim it comes in a few colors at your local fabric store.

  • This is great!! Thanks so much for sharing this way to alter.
