As an undergraduate geography major I can't agree more, that graduate students are the worst. My major and all my UNDERGRADUATE classes are filled with jack offs that couldn't get jobs in communications or teaching so they go back to school on the government dime. They might be graduate students and what not but that doesn't mean they are not dumb asses.

I'm not a grad student, but I worked with enough at my university during my undergrad years to know they sleep less, work more, and earn the least amount of credit for the work they do. Sorry I'm too busy because of my thesis. My thesis is driving me crazy. When will I ever finish my thesis. I'm writing my thesis now. Time is running out for my thesis. I'm happy because I'm getting work done on my thesis. I need help on my thesis. My masters thesis analyzed this behavior indepth, but my PhD thesis will analyze it from new perspective. Most graduate students are the most pathetic motherfuckers I have ever met. These days you don't even have to do a thesis anymore at many universities, instead doing a 'Grad project' that is 40 pages long. 90% of grad students I have met are the most pretentious scumbags in the world, and when confronted with the real world they shrivel in fear.

As a graduate student, I can say with all certainty that we are the worst people ever. You can't talk to a grad student without them mentioning their thesis, or how busy they are, or a paper they have to write. The level of self-absorption is mind-boggling. I'm probably as annoying as every other grad student, but I try to never talk about it unless someone asks me a direct question about my studies. It's like people telling you about their dreams; you act interested, but couldn't care less.

Hunh. I love 30 Rock. And I love this clip, though I didn't know what to make of it. Mainly because I really don't see much representation of grad students or academia in the media. There are exceptions, but for the most part it's a world either completely unrepresented or sorely misrepresented - as far as I can tell. lol, I love this clip. I've been a grad student for three years. I've constantly been told that I'm one of the "good ones" because I don't talk down to students as a know it all. I've seen my other grad student friends do it and it bothers me even! But I agree with the other comments. However, I seem to find that people who just earned their Ph.D. are the most insufferable as far as ego and being a know-it-all goes. lol, Tina Fey is a genius! 30 Rock is great!

I find this bit funny because I was a graduate student for eight years, and most of my friends were or are graduate students. When you're a grad student, you live in this bubble of research, writing, and teaching work; you are very isolated. It doesn't feel as if anybody "out there" in the wider world even knows you exist. So for Tina Fey to include a joke about us on a popular show like 30 Rock is hilarious!
