Appreciate you posting this video...our style is much like KM, and like you, we don't believe that "sparring" is "fighting." It is, however, a vital tool to get used to real fighting. I am consistently amazed at the stupid comments of youtube couch potatoes who criticize it but have no video of themselves doing anything but feeding the dog, or pranking their drunken friends. Thanks again for posting...
@alejarren well hes a bloody useless sparrer,he better hope his preemptive strike is lethal.Ive seen lots of guys with lots of knockouts from sucker shots who cant fight for shit in a match fight so being a good fighter isnt really needed in self defense
@Tharrel You MUST be stupid. I spar every Tuesday, Thursday & Saturday @ One World Krav Maga. (Union City, CA) ..So for you to say there's no way to actually spar in Krav? ..
Don't start with calling people stupid. You can't spar using a combat system. When you do, you just think you do krav maga. Tell me, during your spars, do you use groin kicks without protection? I practice (and teach a little) krav maga, and I spar all the time, but it is more like mma f.ex. Without a full groin or throat or eye hit, you will not learn how it really works, and doing it full force would be silly during training
@Tharrel Wow. We we train to do all of these: Eye attacks, Throat attacks, A LOT of groin kicks, and how to break bones. But OBVIOUSLY we wouldn't want to hurt one of our partners. That's just ridiculous. If you can find a place where they actually SPAR without protection, and rip each other's eyes out. Direct me. And besides, in KRAV MAGA when we spar we're working on our stand up - We work on our stance, our strikes, and most importantly our technique.
@alejarren you cant spar using a lot of techs in krav,the targets would be too dangerous.However you can spar with safer targets with a goal of developing timing,reflexes,distancing,punch resistance,mental toughness etc,all important when your preemptive strike doesnt work as desired.
@Tharrel That's light sparring as we practice in our KM-class as well. It's just to get a feeling for a fighting situation and spotting holes in the cover. We just use a reduced set of techniques, which we negotiate before we start. So the advanced practitioners use harder blows to the head, kicks and take the opponent to the ground until tap out, while we reduce intensity for girls and beginners to encourage them. Like that all levels profit from sparring. It's not a show off of all techniques.
can i ask what type of shin guards that u guys were wearing because im looking for some. Nice sparring session. people dont realize how tiring it is until the try it.

This is actually the best krav I've ever seen. Didn't know any of them did realistic stuff like actual sparring.
Ljenkins9000 1 year ago
that's not krav maga... just because you kick in the groin, doesn't mean it's KM

@Tharrel
Don't understand your comment. where was the groin kick? I don't see one thrown in this session.

@teamcrossfitusa
ok, let's call them high inside lowkicks :P.
As I said. This is not KM. Not your fault though. I think it is impossible to have real km sparrings. People would not survive them :).

give credit to the bald guy for not wearing headgear, although he was getting beat up pretty bad.
