They never had good credit.. Argent is all subprime! It was their decision to buy this home. I doubt the guy pressured them. They probably wanted the house so he can recoup after his surgury in the home. Be honest people, you bit off more than you could chew.

Its always so very dramatic for these people and the loss of their home for whatever reason. I believe that since the Broker was an easy target to get the brunt of the blame thats where the finger gets pointed.Like everybody elses comment READ THE CONTRACT!, everybodies question in a refi is "whats my payment" even at the signing table "whats my payment". Bottom line the loss of their home was inevitable with her husband out of work and not earning an income.

argent mortgage only does peopele with bad credit. People most likely lied about there income  on stated loan.This couple had fuckup credit before they got this new loan on there dream house.

There are good lenders out there. Unfortunately there are also predatory lenders that roll the dice that by the time bad fortune befalls someone they will have already collected principal and a massive amount of interest. It is more common with credit card banks.

I've been in the mortgage industry for 25+ years and have never heard of a mortgage broker or anyone conducting himself in such a manner. That's a disgrace!

You do understand we u/w a file according to the program they QUALIFY for and then condition it so that the borrower has to prove they QUALIFY for it. Unfortuanley the mass public does not understand how Mortgages and Lending works and are easily talked into practically anything. I,as a lender have to set boundaries with the LO's so that shit like this doesnt happen.

There are many bad "loan officers" out there, however, people need to read what there signing and take responsibility. So many home owners quickly blame the mortgage broker. There are underwriting guidlines anyways - how did they qualify? The underwriter doesn't get paid on commission so has no motivation to approve a loan that will not work out.
