How can anyone say Peronism was not fascism when it gagged the presses, arrested opponents, and encouraged a cult of personality? It wasn't Nazism, that was true, but they did allow Nazis into Argentina. Anyone who denies this is either blind or pro fascist themselves.

@tabugirl Don't bother I've already tried telling her that our own country harbored nazi's but apparently that was alright because it was for the benefit of the space program and because we fought them before letting them in lol. She seems to have a very rose colored view of our country's history. I'm glad to live in America but I don't believe we're any better than most other countries including Argentina.

Juan and Eva Peron inherited a country which was economically advanced but politically primitive. They came within four or five ideas of turning that country into a model society.

They do not qualify as villains of any sort. A party named after them is the major political party to this day and Eva Peron is viewed as a saint or as one of God's angels to this day. If they had no use for other parties, neither did 80% of the people, and there's usually a reason for that sort of thing.

@icebear1946 I'm sorry, but I don't agree. I like Evita, but having other political parties is a form of freedom of speech, and getting rid of them is a form of censorship. I'm a big supporter of freedom of speech, and as an American, I'm frightened to see it being eroded in my country.

We have two political parties, one totally feral and the other of which hasn't really done our country much good since Reagan. What Argentina had was much worse and more primitive than that. Our own founding fathers viewed parties as an evil and Peron had no reason to view them otherwise. The stories of Peron's and Chengis Khan's rise to power are similar; the main difference was Peron giving a rat's ass about common people.
