There is a higher chance in 2007 and beyond with going into dangerous combat duty in Iraq & being killed and or maimed. Amputated and badly burned all over. While receiving educational benefits from the military. Kerry was right but did not articulate well. His opponent's are just idiots playing dumb about the truth. And I'm a Rebublican!

what an idiot. I don't believe it was a botched joke. I believe he is a condescending jerk. Not because I served in the first war in Iraq but because it was just a stupid comment to make right before an election. I always thought Edwards should have been the candidate anyway.

Kerry didn't say "troops" or "soldiers." Republicans said it, they're the ones insulting everybody. Kerry said "you." You, as in our whole nation is stuck in Iraq. Democrats should make an ad featuring Bush saying "our toops are uneducated." Who cares if it's only a part of the whole sentence, if Republicans have no shame ripping phrases out of context and it goes unanswered that's an unfair advantage.

Even if he was making the joke about bush, it wasn't clear at all. I can see how people think it is a jab at the US military. He needs to be more clearer and just say bush's name in the joke. We need to start actually looking into who we are voting for and not just voting down party lines.

What is funny about getting stuck in Iraq? Well nothing I suppose, but putting yourself in harms way for no reason (tell me theres a reason for being in Iraq that doesn't involve dick cheney and his trail of cash and oil) is not a good thing. By the way, the troops in Iraq are NOT protecting me in any form.

I do want to see the whole of this video, but if you think for 3 seconds, you notice he tells a joke just before he says the 'insult', and then he begins to speak about something, and he looks down at his card (Notes anyone?) and either misread or had trouble reading something.

actually, he "Welcomes" everyone prior to the insult, and immediately after he welcomes everyone he says, I know we are suppose to be talking about education"...insult

I have looked all over the web. I know it is out there because MSNBC played it Tuesday night. Not only was there no laughter, the guy to his right, and the girl to his left both took it as an insult. You could see it in their expression.
