@fatzy9ttuts I have the same problem, I've read somewhere that it means that the pc is not able to decode the image correctly of the video. I had the same problem when I uploaded the video to youtube, but it looked horrible. I still have no idea how to fix that.
I am about to buy this cam I had the S5 IS and had no troubles with it but now i want to shoot in HD thats why im getting it. the one feature that i like the best is the swivel screen. Because of the screen i was able to take footage in hard to reach areas i cam put the camera way over my head and still see what i am shooting or way down below on the floor and still get a good shot.
after extensive research i picked panasonic one, this camera is wicked, the pictures and videos are very sharp, very fast focus, very fast picture taking ability, the lamp is just awesome, you can take pics in dark room, and they still look as if you took them in daylight
yea i think im leanin toward that one too, but its so hard to leave the sx20...i love the lcd swivel and the fact that it takes batteries...plus the +2 optical zoom helps out a bit...but i like the compact size of the fz and how it shoots in raw. is there anyone that has owned both of these and likes one over the other?
Did you figure it out? To get the video off the memory card you need to either use the included Canon software or plug your SD card into an SD card reader and manually browse to the videos. For some reason 3rd-party software apps like Picasa don't see the video files when importing.
i record video on this camera too but it comes out so grainy and noisy:( how do i get rid of all this. i can't get result like your video. any idea? how to i reduce the noise.
To get back to the point; The video quality is quite nice, I think you would have to spend at least the same amount of money on a camcorder to match it, especially considering the super zoom. On the other hand, I'm no expert on hd camcorders, and I guess that if you're in the market for filming in hd you would get a camcorder. The video capability on the sx20 is a bonus, not a primary feature as I see it. And the stills are top notch for a compact sensor.
Eh, no? 720p and a few more MP is about it. Oh, and the HDMI output I suppose. Know-it-alls complain that the upped resolution on the same size sensor affects picture quality, and they may well be right. Still, I'm satisfied with this camera, suits my needs perfectly. Too frickin' bad the right channel microphone produces nothing but radio noise, so now I'll have to return it and probably be without a camera for half a year... Dang!
The SX1 is the way to go if you are looking for good video quality. But there is still a big price difference, and anyways the SX1 costs like a Reflex entry level camera, dunno if it's worth it ;)
Come on, guys. This is a STILL picture camera. Be thrilled you can get any video. If one wants perfect video quality, get a video camera. BTW, I'm impressed that I did not hear the lens motor when zooming in and out. That was a problem with the S3.
Hm, I don't get it. Even if you've never seen "real actual penguins", why would you think that the animals on the video are ducks? They look nothing like ducks, at least not like any duck i've ever seen. And the point was, if you mistake the flappers on these gyus for actual flyable wings etc, you're hardly qualified to critisze video quality...
A cheetah IS a cat actually, just like a penguin is a bird. And while a baby cheetah can look like a domestic cat (domestic cats vary alot in looks, thanks to humans), a penguin looks nothing like a duck. I mean, look at the video, and then imagine those creatures soar way up high in the sky, with their sorry excuse for a pair of "wings" ... I'm sorry, but I find both the initial comment and the "defense" hilarious, and I mean that in a good way :)
putting up a debate to this little thing is even hilarious. You know every human has it's own perception to things, and it varies from one person to another, and if my perception to that penguin is a "duck" doesn't mean i'm wrong or hilarious, we both have different things we see in our everyday life, and it just so happen i see this penguin as duck because of the featherlike features.
My "idea" of a penguin is based from what i see in magazines and movies, and all i just knew is that a penguin is a very smooth (no feathers), and it's texture is similar to a dolphin. So by looking at this video, i didn't knew it was a penguin because my "idea" of a penguin is different from it. So sorry if i have a limited idea of what a penguin looks like, but i think i deserve some respect just like people who are new to certain things. End of discussion.
Hehehe, this just gets better and better :) As I said, it does not matter whether or not you have seen a penguin before, the pengiuns on the videol do not look like ducks at all :) Have you ever seen a duck? And don't take this so seriously would you...
I posted a link to a bird page, and said that the page displayed images of ducks (are links to bird pages not allowed on youtube? ), but when I actually looked at the page only one of the species depicted was duck, the others were geese etc :) Shot myself in the foot, hahaha:)
ok you see penguin, and i saw a duck. No and point to argue because we come from different pespectives. ok. no offense but you're acting like you only believe in what you say.
Only believe in what I say? What, if I see a car, and you believe it to be a helicopter, I should just let it go because I need to understand your perspective? That doesn't make any sense.
ok it doesn't look like a duck to you, but it looks like a duck to me at first. Ok. just open your mind and understand others pereception on things. I've already explained that my concept of a penguin is featherless, because the ones i always see are wet, so it looks really smooth(like the trailers of happy feet), i didn't knew it was feathers. Pls understand first where i'm coming from ok and you'll understand what i'm saying.
I'm sorry, if the two penguins in the front look like ducks to you, you can't possibly see very well, or you have a lousy monitor. Either way, that makes for a bad basis for visual critique. You are obviously offended by this, but that is the truth. You argue that you have never seen real penguins etc, but that is beside the point, because no matter what kind of animal is shown in the video, they look nothing like ducks. Do you mistake any animal you've never seen before as a duck?
Your welcome, I have been keeping my on eye on this camera but there are no youtube reviews(the only one I saw on here only had words and it only talked about the good parts, not the faults)
he he he MrDagern ...you are right !!! hehehe...those are penguins ! Anyway...Im seeking a substitute for my S5 and video quality is a concern for me ...
Thanks for you comment ...made me laugh a lot hehe...

If a camera can't do audio well, I won't buy it. Panasonics can't do audio well. I'm with Canon.

What light conditions are you trying to shoot in?
Or is it grainy/noisy in all conditions?

Do you have the digital zoom enabled? If so then disable this and dont use it at all even for pictures.

no matter what you say, what i really saw (in my eyes) are ducks. like if you NEVER saw a baby cheetah in your whole life, you could say it's a cat.
o.O? Why so mean? i'm just saying my "OPINION" on the quality. i'm human just like you.
