They get married in like a montage thing where there's different scenes of things like Jenny's mum preparing to commit suicide and the President sitting thinking about things. It's basically straight after the scene where Leo proposes. There's a priest standing in front of them reading a bible.

Well, basically he had to get married to her if he wanted to save her andher family. He was one of the people preselected to go to the underground shelter, but she wasn't. If he married her, she and her family could have a space in the shelter.

the comet was supposed to hit the whole earth but just before it was against to hit, a spaceship split the comet into several parts so just one part of the comet hit the earth, so the hit didn't get that big and most part of the earth acually made it threw. Hard to explain, you need to see the movie :P

Well, it's based on more of what will happen after the comet hits. The one that actually hit the earth (The smaller fragment of the main comet) caused a tidal wave that wiped out most of the Atlantic coastline of the US. The larger one (which was stopped), woulc have basically wiped out the rest of humanity, by blocking the sun for two years.
