I'm with you completely doug. If anyone doesn't like Chet; Somethings wrong with THEM ! Not him. Let them listen to something else! Thanks alot for all the postings. Love you & all the music you play.
@Brenngunn I agree! But sadly, as far as not liking him, there actually are people out there who have managed to do that. Most of them get banned from my channel.
@daffydoug I don't blame you. Chet was played more than any other artist in our house when I was growing up. My father had almost everything Chet ever put out. He's one of my favs!! ...oh, Chet and Les, of course.
@Brenngunn Yup! Thanks for the support. If people come on this channel, which I set up to honor Mr Guitar, and they have the gall (or stupidity) to try to criticize him,. then as far as I'm concerned, they're just asking for it. I'll hit that ban button so fast it will make their head spin, and I'll sleep very well at night, too.
Thanks for replying, daffydoug. You must be sitting on a gold mine of Chet stuff iv'e never heard of. Guess you've heard of John Knowles that played on the "First Nashville Guiter Quartet" album with him. I was taking a few lessons at Peabody from him in Nashville when they cut that. He's the closest to Chet I've ever heard. He has a website, in case you or anyone else wants to look at it. Great stuff on it. He plays some samples of his instructional licks. Hope flu goes away.
To: daffydoug-I thought I was the biggest Chet fan ever. Do you happen to have Chet from his SuperPickers album playing "On the Road Again" with all the guys? I also found out recently that Chet made at least two Christmas albums. I have one, but it's scratched up. Any chance you have any of those songs you could post? "Sail Along Silvery Moon" w/Danny Davis is a good one, too. Thanks.
Indeed I do have both Chet Christmas albums. My plan, of course, is to post them during the Holiday season! In fact, come Christmas season, I plan to go crazy with posting Chet Christmas cheer!
I also have some rare Chet Christmas releases that probably nobody has heard, except a priveledged few.
It will be my Christmas surprise to my subscribers!
On the road again was from Chet's album "Still Country after All these Years.
I know! I remember my first Chet album when I was 12 or 13. Man that sound..it's like people describe when they first heard Elvis and it hits their brain like an explosion...it'd a defining moment in your life, and it changes your life forever...
My path in life would have been TOTALLY different if I had never heard Chet..think of the movie "It's A Wonderful Life"..their are many paths a person can take and EVERYBODY influences someone else in some way that could affect their eternal destiny!
This was the first song I ever heard Chet play and it was love at first listen. As fate would have it, I selected "Chet Atkins picks in the Beatles" CD out of the library catalog because it had silly album art (Chet wearing a Beatles wig). Little did I know it would totally change my life. I must have played this song 4,000 times. It totally changed the way I listen to music. :)
Absolutely Mr. Atkins is brilliant and I thought for sure I'd like this but sadly.... stop the elevator and let me off.

I bet George must have been extremely excited if he heard this, considering his childhood idol covered their song.

How can you not like Chet? One of the highest guitar masters there was.

I would rather hear Chet play these songs than to hear the people sang them. Great job.

I'll post Silvery moon and on the road again for you soon. Right now, I've been fighting off flu, so my posting has been sparse.
