As far as I'm concerned this series defined the early 90s culture, or was at least the embodyment of what the early 90s culture was. (up until about 92-93).
Cool, graphics actually look pretty good. I think the Jaguar should have focused on making 2D games. I bet they could have made some really cool 2D games instead of those shitty polygon games
@HerecomestheCalavera back in those days "shitty polygons" were incredible for anything videogame to have. jaguars main purpose was to sell games in 3d as no other company did
I would describe the look of these Jaguar games as being "24-bit" not quite as good as what you would see on PSX or Saturn but better than SNES or Genesis.
It's unfortunate this was never finished. One of the earliest screens I can remember seeing for the Jaguar was from this game (I'm assuming the earlier version). Though it likely still wouldn't have got me to spend the money on a Jaguar, I think the system would have benefitted from more recognizable licenses.
I don't know if there is source available for this one, but it doesn't do any more than you see here. That combined with the already-released notes from Atari which note how far the background art got compared to how far the game got is where I got my estimation. ;)
re: your description, this /is/ the different direction taken after the original version was scrapped. The version you see in some of the early promotional material from Atari was the original version.
Your video production is really great too I might add. Any chance you could make some vids of Jack Niclaus Golf & Brett Hull Hockey if you have them? :D I really like your Jaguar videos man! :P
Awesome man. :) I noticed this vid had the high quality option too. Was it your first? Are you into other systems besides the Jag? I think you could be a very popular Youtube reviewer because your videos are very good and you speak very well. And the Jag doesn't have many fans unfortunately... :(

Wicked. As you say, nice to finally see this game in action. Again, shame it never saw completion and release.

You are correct.
I knew that before, but I got mixed up in the review :-/
A couple guys have discovered the 1st version recently ;)
viMasterJag 3 years ago
Well, maybe you should make the correction to the video description if you dont wanna re-upload the video.

Uh, I did... on the very same day I uploaded the video.

Nothing at all.
The timer stops at 0 and you can still just sit there and run around.

So do we have any idea how far along this game got in either of its forms? i.e. Original concept 25% and this one 50%?
KevinCali24 3 years ago
I'd say original concept 15% and this one 5%, but that's being generous.

Ah, so have you looked at the source code then? :)

KevinCali24 3 years ago
I'm not really into any other systems, no, except sometimes my PSP... well, the 360 as well, but nothing else in regards to classic gaming.
The more recent videos have the HQ option.
I believe the first was my 2nd Tempest 2K movie.
Actually, there might be one or two before that, but it was just by chance that they happened. All future videos will have that option.

I was gonna say the same thing. He speaks really well.
