  • the only powercar to have 4 engines,

    Valenta

    Mirless

    Vp185

    Mtu

  • 43167, 43168 & 43169 have had the lot aswell. With 43167 been a valenta again prior to getting its MTU.

  • swansea station,by the stop car markers, engine wise why change it for the greenies??

  • Clag from a vp185 its good that East Midlands Trains are keeping the vp185 in their power Cars.

  • @HSTJames2 until the emmisions regs come into force then they will be MTU :)

  • beastage..gd vid

  • They should never stop making these trains! Never! The best train ever created. Not too fast like in Japan or France and a lovely roaring engine aswell. Perfect for tarin lovers like me.

  • Ive seen and been on the 43 170 and i love that it takes forever to pick up revs ashame its a MTU now

  • It did in 1987, but in 1994 43170 was the test powercar for the VP185 and that's why it became named "Edward Paxman"

  • Even a VP185 is better than the pathetic excuse of an engine that`s replacing the Valentas & VP185. Okay maybe the MTU engine is keeping the HST in service for a few more years but don`t they sound awful? All you get is a quiet purr & then a pathetic grunt!

  • Agree but yes, it's better than more Adelantes!

  • adalentes scream abit with the cummins qsk or watever u call it engine!

  • beast 4ever
