I think it WAS "real" smart. Everyone loved that move. It appealed to black and white voters. It showed an intimate, authentic side of an already popular candidate. And I may be wrong, but it looked pretty impulsive to me - I doubt it was orchestrated before hand. That's why everyone loved this. The white voters who would be turned off by this intimate gesture are racists who wouldn't vote for him anyway.

gawd, reminds me of the newscasts back in the mid-80s when Run DMC and other rap groups started gaining mainstream fame. Talking heads on newscasts who have no clue, NO CLUE, about pop culture, about anything their little, narrow circles, sounded so stiff, stodgy and conservative talking about rap.
