@EyeofKraid Sam is a true hero, every soldier in Middle earth that fought for justice are heroes. Sam was brave and kind as no one else... So saying that he isn't a hero is wrong.
It's just like in the great stories Mr. Frodo... the ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger they were, and sometimes you didn't want to know the end... because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was after so much bad had happened? But in the end, it's only a passing thing, a shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come! Those were the stories that stayed with you, even if you're too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back, only--they didn't. They kept going, because they were holding onto something... <3 T_T
@MerryFabalaFaeWaka ha ha i LOVE Sam's speach and have it on my MP 3..... WHAT ARE WE HOLDING ON TO SAM? THAT THERE'S SOME GOOD IN THIS WORLD MR. FRODO AND IT'S WORTH FIGHTING FOR!
Howard Shore and Peter Jackson are a perfect combination.. I mean the music and the directing of the LOTR trilogy were spectacular and it took me into this fantasy middle earth world that felt like reality. No movie has ever sucked me in like LOTR trilogy
@EyeofKraid Yeah. Frodo was a pussy in the movie. In the book he was like "HELL NAW. I ain't riding no donkey when my friends be walking" even though he got stabbed.
@VenomShock - You are right! Many stories and films need a real bad personality, as many People are able to see and feel the Light only in contradiction to Darkness. So a worse character can bring out the good of the Hero. The Principle is somehow, that Light comes out of Darkness. But at some Time the Hero has to decide, that he wants to bring Light to the World. Otherwise he becomes a Destroyer. But we all we need are Heroes, who only wish to bring Light!
This deserves way more views that it has. People don't understand that the music sometimes makes the movies; it's what makes you cry, laugh and scared. You can come away and listen to this piece of music and picture Sam telling Frodo not to give up. This is just...hauntingly beautiful. Howard Shore, I'm so glad you're doing 'The Hobbit'. <3
How in the world can you compare Harry Potter to Lord of the Rings?!!! Lord of the Rings is actually literature! And Harry Potter is a children s series ! How is Frodo the only hero?
"It's like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger, they were. And sometimes you didn't want to know the end. Because how could the end be happy? @Emper0rH0rde "... Those were the stories that really stuck with you; that meant something, even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mister Frodo, I do understand; I know now. Folk in these stories had lots of chances of turnin' back only they didn't; because they were holdin' on to something..."
"...What are we holding on to, Sam?"
"That there's some good in this world, Mister Frodo; and it's worth fightin' for."
Samwise Gamgee is also my favorite character. He was always loyal to Frodo, even when things looked to be at their worst for the quest and between each other. He was so brave, he'd be willing to help Frodo from danger and tell him things that would aid them in their quest (There's some good in this world, there is light, do you remember the Shire, etc.)
@EyeofKraid You've a grand opinion. I feel that, as with any great, classical story, each character has their role as hero. Sam, I think, may have had more than one instance of heroism.
@keraohh Fully agree, that part still gives me goosebumps. Especially the high tone at around 1:03! Howard Shore is a truly great composer, unmatched in his style.
Sam: . A new day will come, and when the sun shines it'll shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you, that meant something even if you were too small to understand why. But I think Mr. Frodo, I do understand, I know now folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back, only they didn't. They kept going because they were holding on to something.
Frodo: What are we holding onto, Sam?
Sam: That there's some good in the world, Mr. Frodo, and it's worth fighting for.
Howard Shore is a god, but is is a shame he went and did the Twilight Movies, and twilight fans, shut up. I don't care what you think. This was an amazing series, and Howard Shore had to waste his time in a series that will never even come close to Oscar-Worthy, unlike all of the Lord of the Rings movies. The one thing that will be able to save Howard Shore is the Hobbit, whenever it comes out.
A new day will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you. That meant something, even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back, only they didn't. They kept going. Because they were holding on to something.
I know. It's all wrong. By rights we shouldn't even be here. But we are. It's like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger, they were. And sometimes you didn't want to know the end. Because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But in the end, it's only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass.
se me pone la carne de gallina al escuchar esta cancion, las he escuchado todas cientos de veces y ésta tiene más belleza y simbolismo que ninguna.a la altura del nessum dorma
@EyeofKraid why does no1 get this. there is no singular hero. sauron was afraid of the free peoples of middle earth UNITING, everyone was the hero, everyone had their part to play. without any single one of them sauron would have been victorious
@Festivals33 That's a good point... I get what you're saying. I never really thought of it that way before. You're probably right. I just was sick of people saying 'Stuff Frodo. Sam's the hero.' He's NOT the main hero. That's the whole point of him being Frodo's helper and friend.
@EyeofKraid yea i know what you mean, i wish more people would realise though, sauron was defeated the first time by the last alliance of men and elves. they showed unity and he was defeated, the same had to happen in the war of the ring like rohan coming to the aid of gondor at minas tirith
@jediking12 True, Harry knew he needed to finish what Dumbledore started: to destroy the Horcruxes, but he knew he couldn't do it alone, so Ron and Hermione aided him in his quest.
"Frodo wouldn't have gone far without Sam." This is true because otherwise Frodo would've failed in his quest, not only because he can't do it alone because Frodo would've been controlled by the Ring without Sam
@TheBioLover IDK, Lord of the Rings is an epic in everywhere, it's amazing and wonderful, but so is Harry Potter. You can't truly compare the writings in that way because are totally different. While Lord of the Rings is a fantasy medieval kind of theme, written almost 100 years ago, Harry Potter is a modern interpretation of magic and it has a lot of feeling and heart in it. It didn't make J.K. Rowling the richest woman in, almost the world, for being simply average. Unless you mean films, lol.
@NormbrettaMod Swords, shields, leather and metal armour, catapults and horse chargers met with arrow volleys is usually considered medieval. Is there a time period you find more appropriate?
style of warfare was very similar in the times of the roman empire, but they weren't medieval. tolkien's work was inspired by a mixture of cultures and periods, the anglo-saxons were one, the ancient celts another, biblical times...really, the medieval times were quite grim and dull; no where near as romantic as what we know as the dark ages or pre-roman europe which was when much of the myths, legends and fairytales were born. the lotr is pretty much a very deep fairytale.
@NormbrettaMod Touche. Well played. You're absolutely right. My point was, that most fantasy is "medieval", or dark ages, style in terms of weaponry and armour and all that. I don't mean the theme is medieval. But I doubt many would argue over that. It isn't really even a big deal.
Sam was the Hero. He showed true courage, and went the full way to do his job. He fell 100 feet, and climbed back up for Frodo. Now I know everyone on these comments couldn't do that, nor could I. Without him, how would Frodo of fulfilled his duty. The orcs would of gotten the ring and got it to Sauron if Sam hadn't taken it because he thought Frodo has died. Sam was the true hero. Without him, Sauron would of covered the world in darkness.
I have read the book once a year for the past 10 years in three languages, as well as The Hobbit, the Silmarillion, The Book of Lost Tales 1 & 2, Letters to, Lost Road, Shaping, and other books you never have even heard of. Tolkien made it very clear that Gandalf was an indirect supporter who had no power over anyone, just like any other Istari. If you had a clue what you were talking about, you'd know that Sauron was Valar. You're trying to school the wrong person.
The movie made me cry, laugh, scared and it made me happy. :) And everytime im thinking of it, it make life more important. :) This movie, i cant barently describe it. :)
The real hero of LOTR is Samwise, not Frodo. Aragorn has to keep busy with his king business, Gandalf is kind of an observer, but without Sam Middle Earth would have perished. Many people wrote to Tolkien asking if he considered Frodo a traitor at the end, and he went to great lengths explaining why not.
But in truth Frodo did betray everyone, he couldn't control the Ring, and Sam was the personification of the spirit Frodo needed. Samwise lives!
@1971ojoalparche1971 Both of them together saved Middle Earth. The whole fellowship's efforts did, even though they were not together. Even though they were broken apart they stayed true to their cause, and each had an important role to partake in.
@1971ojoalparche1971 Frodo did his best. Sam wouldn't have been strong enough to bare the ring without betraying the whole lot. Frodo made it most of the way, and yes it's true that he did need Sam, but Sam wasn't THE hero.
He's a bit like a bicycle pump. The bike rode most the way but i's tyre burst on the final straight, however the pump played his role and was there the to re-inflate the tyre and help the bike and it's rider (the ring in this case) cross the line.
@1971ojoalparche1971 gandalf is 'kind of an observer'??? have you even watched the movie or read the book? gandalf is basically saurons counterpart ffs. aragorn is the one who unites the world of men which is what sauron most fears. and frodo withstands the ring longer than any other bearer, (apart from sauron of course). sam is only kept on course by his utter devotion and loyalty to frodo. they all are equally important, without any one of these characters sauron would have been victorious.

doesnt this make you cry??? im sitting at my computer bawling, this is so goreous!!!!!! Sam is the best best friend ever, i wish he was my best friend, :)

@EyeofKraid Yeah. Frodo was a pussy in the movie. In the book he was like "HELL NAW. I ain't riding no donkey when my friends be walking" even though he got stabbed.

@renrew667 I wouldn't say that. Look at The Joker, and Gollum.
VenomShock 9 months ago

How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But in the end, it's only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come.
TheSWNerd1 1 year ago
@EyeofKraid You've a grand opinion. I feel that, as with any great, classical story, each character has their role as hero. Sam, I think, may have had more than one instance of heroism.

@EyeofKraid why does no1 get this. there is no singular hero. sauron was afraid of the free peoples of middle earth UNITING, everyone was the hero, everyone had their part to play. without any single one of them sauron would have been victorious
Festivals33 1 year ago
@Festivals33 That's a good point... I get what you're saying. I never really thought of it that way before. You're probably right. I just was sick of people saying 'Stuff Frodo. Sam's the hero.' He's NOT the main hero. That's the whole point of him being Frodo's helper and friend.
EyeofKraid 1 year ago

@iamSnip3rOne More like LOTR is amazingly awesome and Harry Potter is average.
TheBioLover 1 month ago
@TheBioLover IDK, Lord of the Rings is an epic in everywhere, it's amazing and wonderful, but so is Harry Potter. You can't truly compare the writings in that way because are totally different. While Lord of the Rings is a fantasy medieval kind of theme, written almost 100 years ago, Harry Potter is a modern interpretation of magic and it has a lot of feeling and heart in it. It didn't make J.K. Rowling the richest woman in, almost the world, for being simply average. Unless you mean films, lol.

no...not medieval...at all. just...no...
NormbrettaMod 5 days ago
@NormbrettaMod Swords, shields, leather and metal armour, catapults and horse chargers met with arrow volleys is usually considered medieval. Is there a time period you find more appropriate?
Hinatafan4ever666 4 days ago
@Hinatafan4ever666
style of warfare was very similar in the times of the roman empire, but they weren't medieval. tolkien's work was inspired by a mixture of cultures and periods, the anglo-saxons were one, the ancient celts another, biblical times...really, the medieval times were quite grim and dull; no where near as romantic as what we know as the dark ages or pre-roman europe which was when much of the myths, legends and fairytales were born. the lotr is pretty much a very deep fairytale.
NormbrettaMod 4 days ago
@NormbrettaMod Touche. Well played. You're absolutely right. My point was, that most fantasy is "medieval", or dark ages, style in terms of weaponry and armour and all that. I don't mean the theme is medieval. But I doubt many would argue over that. It isn't really even a big deal.
Hinatafan4ever666 3 days ago
Sam was the Hero. He showed true courage, and went the full way to do his job. He fell 100 feet, and climbed back up for Frodo. Now I know everyone on these comments couldn't do that, nor could I. Without him, how would Frodo of fulfilled his duty. The orcs would of gotten the ring and got it to Sauron if Sam hadn't taken it because he thought Frodo has died. Sam was the true hero. Without him, Sauron would of covered the world in darkness.
jokerman148 1 year ago 3
I have read the book once a year for the past 10 years in three languages, as well as The Hobbit, the Silmarillion, The Book of Lost Tales 1 & 2, Letters to, Lost Road, Shaping, and other books you never have even heard of. Tolkien made it very clear that Gandalf was an indirect supporter who had no power over anyone, just like any other Istari. If you had a clue what you were talking about, you'd know that Sauron was Valar. You're trying to school the wrong person.

They needed each other.
halfmarks 1 year ago 5
The real hero of LOTR is Samwise, not Frodo. Aragorn has to keep busy with his king business, Gandalf is kind of an observer, but without Sam Middle Earth would have perished. Many people wrote to Tolkien asking if he considered Frodo a traitor at the end, and he went to great lengths explaining why not.
But in truth Frodo did betray everyone, he couldn't control the Ring, and Sam was the personification of the spirit Frodo needed. Samwise lives!
1971ojoalparche1971 1 year ago 4
@1971ojoalparche1971 Both of them together saved Middle Earth. The whole fellowship's efforts did, even though they were not together. Even though they were broken apart they stayed true to their cause, and each had an important role to partake in.
S4LAm4ndr 1 year ago 5
@1971ojoalparche1971 Frodo did his best. Sam wouldn't have been strong enough to bare the ring without betraying the whole lot. Frodo made it most of the way, and yes it's true that he did need Sam, but Sam wasn't THE hero.
He's a bit like a bicycle pump. The bike rode most the way but i's tyre burst on the final straight, however the pump played his role and was there the to re-inflate the tyre and help the bike and it's rider (the ring in this case) cross the line.
You see?

@1971ojoalparche1971 gandalf is 'kind of an observer'??? have you even watched the movie or read the book? gandalf is basically saurons counterpart ffs. aragorn is the one who unites the world of men which is what sauron most fears. and frodo withstands the ring longer than any other bearer, (apart from sauron of course). sam is only kept on course by his utter devotion and loyalty to frodo. they all are equally important, without any one of these characters sauron would have been victorious.
