@JustSomeComputerNerd I've tried upgrading to later firmwares myself and I found 5.50 GEN D3 was easy to install straight from 5.00m33 but the firmwares after 6.00 usually require you install a later OFW before installing. 5.50 GEN D3 allows me to do all the things I want do so I never really bothered trying to install later CFW. But I'm pretty sure that there is a way to get it done.

@RosesWater It's simple to find out. Just run ChickHEN and then run pspident. That will tell you what motherboard you have. If you have a TA-088v3 Motherboard you won't be able to put cfw on but if it's is anything other then that you can put CFW on it.

aaaghh can sum 1 help.I updaed my psp to gen d3 5.05 and when i download a game it either freezes or says the ame cannot start, how can i resolve this and i noticed that the h.bin file looks like an exclamation mark, my h.bin file is just a blank .rar do i need to extract it?

@Rashad8671 If you've installed CFW on your psp you need to make sure that it is set to load without a UMD in the drive in the recovery menu like i've said in the video. Also if you are playing newer games like Metal slug XX and gran turismo and such they won't run cause they need newer firmware like 6.1 or 6.2 The way to fix this is to download and install 5.50 GEN D3 Because it will fix problems like that.

are the games you have saved on your memory stick iso games? i have a iso game saved in mine in the iso folder but the game doesnt show up on my psp. are there any additional plugins i need to install in order to play iso games?

The games i have are saved to the memory stick under the iso folder. But you have to make sure there is a games folder under /psp/ on your memory card otherwise the games won't appear. Try installing a demo game or just putting the folder on the memory stick and you should be fine.

The UMD configuration thing is to tell the psp not to look for a UMD when starting a game. So when you load a psp ISO or CSO from the memory stick it will start without needing a UMD in the psp.

Yeah you can delete them. Once the CFW is saved to the flash memory it'll start with CFW every time even without a memory card in it.

5.00 m336 is a cfw. sony doesn't put letters and numbers after their official firmwares. if you haven't got CFW then it will only say something like 5.00 in the system settings. if you have 5.00 m33-6 in the system settings you have cfw.

you need to download some games before you can play them. when you've downloaded them you put them into a folder called ISO on the root of your memory card.

yes it will be a permanent change. but if you want to you can change it back to the official firmware by downloading the update off sony's website or somewhere else and running it on the psp. also make sure you DON'T update to 5.51 or 5.50 cause if you do you won't be able to install CFW again.

it just loads up the CFW like normal but you need to go into the recovery menu first to set the umd type otherwise ISO games won't run.

you can't do this on psp 3000's. if you do you will brick your psp. it only lets you load the recovery menu if you successfully installed CFW. if you try it on a psp 3000 series or a psp 2000 series with at TA-88v3 mother board it won't work.

you can run the ChickHEN but you shouldn't be able to install custom firmware. because custom firmware is permanent and if you've installed the CFW then you must have a different type of motherboard. if it's just chickhen it should work fine but if you try to install CFW on a ta-88v3 it'll semi-brick.

the ta-088v3 prevents you from flshing CFW to your psp. so the ChickHEN R2 and the pspident program will still run on ta-088v3 motherboards. so you just need to load up chickhen and install the easy CFW installer on your psp and load the pspident program that comes with it.

nope. the ta-088v3 has a certian bit that disallows re-flashing the psp so if you try to it'll brick the psp. you can't even do it With a pandora's battery. if you're really rich i'd buy a second psp(probably a phat one) but atleast you can still run ChichkHEN which does let you run homebrew software.
