Ive had 2 colonoscopys' 1st time I woke up crying..I have adhesions and damage from endometriosis..anyway 2nd time I was out like a lite, no pain..my poor Mom and Grandmom had this (down the throat) done more than once..after 1st time they both asked 4 more sedation and got it..only a sadist would leave u alert for this procedure..in this day and age u don't need to suffer..get another doc if 1st one won't put u out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! poor man!

It was very quick,in my case it was nothing serious,Gastritus,untreated it could lead to a more serious condition later on.
I am so glad I had it and dont worry anymore,that only makes it worse.

If you have cronic stomachpains, just go for the gastroscopy. You might have a Helicobacter p-infection. Better to treat it if you don't want to eat porridge and NOT drink for the rest of your life, or develop cancer. It's uneasy for some, others handle it better.

The most horrible experience...EVER. You could feel the camera poking your stomach from the inside. Each time he started pulling it out, i thought i was done, until he shoved it down again (not to mention this was done at a private doctors office, no sedation, no windows in the room, equipment from the 80's). It will still feel like you have the camera down your throat for several days after the procedure. Also i felt like a bitch gagging with tears coming out of my eyes and puking slime.

I had this yesterday and had sedation and probably retched more than he did. It was definitely a horrible experience, and my throat is incredibly sore. The woman said the retching is normal, but it sure was horrible.
To everyone anticipating an Upper GI Endoscopy, this clip is not the real deal. This guy is probably was not sedated. I've just finished the procedure an hour ago, and I swear its the best feeling ever. I was sleep during the whole thing, and when I woke up I felt drunk
So here is my advice, if you ever planning to do it, make sure that they put you to sleep, and then you will wake up very satisfied. BELIEVE ME.
I had this procedure once in Backnang, Germany. It was absolutely no problem. The sedative shut down all my nervousity and anxiety :) This video is too dramatic. Interesting to see my esophagus on the screen.
I had this procedure twice. First time, they shot me full of drugs but they didn't work--I felt the whole thing, and it was utterly horrible. I can't describe how miserable it feels to have a tube rammed into your stomach while you are retching against it. Second time--drugs worked, just woke up in another room. Bottom line--if you're at all conscious don't let them start. Don't just assume the drugs will kick in. Demand proper anesthetic before they proceed!!!

I had a gastroscopy today and it was NOTHING like this! My doctor sprayed my throat to numb it and then the sedation kicked in! I had it today too. It is nothing. Anesthesia for the throat and sedation are used also in Costa Rica. Even though I did not fell asleep complete, I wasn't fully aware of the instruments inside and did not feel anything. I even forgot the afterwards. Probably no sedation and anesthesia were used with the patient in this video.

But he didnt have the sedation just the spray,he wretched so much he was sick, just bile from his stomach mind you but dont let this person mislead you by telling you it isnt like this because it IS if you dont have sedation !!!! i got one today, really not a nice thing, just stay calm and think of nice things, the retching and gagging is normal as you will have tube shoved down your throat, but stay calm, thraot kills like made after but wears off after a few hours
I had this done to me today. Its uncomfetable, and i did gag like 5 or 6 times in total, but once the camera has gone a certain depth down its not too bad. its the inflation of the stomach that feels weird too. I'm glad its all over though now lol
But seriously - don't be afraid. It's just unpleasant - you will retch but you won't vomit (you can't eat before the test). It's also strange and a bit painful feeling when the tube goes down into the stomach. But when it is inside you (I know, it sound terrible;) and doctor takes biopsies, you think: "it's going to the end, I stick it out" and you feel better. After gastroscopy you may feel weak and broken physically but mentally... it's just catharsis:)
During the test try to breath deeply and calmly. Then all that will be more tolerable.
Well, calm down and - once again - don't be afraid! Everything will be fine. Remember, it's just routine test. Some people tolerate much worse things...
I keep my fingers crossed for good results of gastroscopy. I'll get to know mine next week and I'm very afraid of them. Eh, life is brutal...
OMG...the sound effects! The poor guy was gagging and urping the entire time!They placed an emesis basin near him to vomit but yet he couldn't even do that because he was plugged up by the garden hose! I have a phobia pain ... To make an examination of this, q would be sedated for several days, this procedure is very aggressive, with 21st century technology, since there could be other forms of examinations, without causing pain and suffering to be human.

Well I had this done this morning.
Had sedation.
Staff were so nice.
The spray they used to freeze the back of the throat was the worst part. It tasted very strong.
It was over in no time.

My sedation did n`t work...which really sucked..good old NHS !! it was pretty awful but it is quite quick and you do gag ALOT !!!

The most horrible experience...EVER. You could feel the camera poking your stomach from the inside. Each time he started pulling it out, i thought i was done, until he shoved it down again (not to mention this was done at a private doctors office, no sedation, no windows in the room, equipment from the 80's). It will still feel like you have the camera down your throat for several days after the procedure. Also i felt like a bitch gagging with tears coming out of my eyes and puking slime.

Just had this done about 3 hours ago without sedation NEVER AGAIN lol. never wanted 2 look at vids of it before i had it done but now i dont mind lookin. i was told the endoscope is small and thin FUCKIN BALLS it is its about as wide as my fuckin index finger and i so wanted 2 slap the doctor after fuckin rammin that pipe down my throat never again for anyone who's having it done be sedated lol

I had this yesterday and had sedation and probably retched more than he did. It was definitely a horrible experience, and my throat is incredibly sore. The woman said the retching is normal, but it sure was horrible.

To everyone anticipating an Upper GI Endoscopy, this clip is not the real deal. This guy is probably was not sedated. I've just finished the procedure an hour ago, and I swear its the best feeling ever. I was sleep during the whole thing, and when I woke up I felt drunk
So here is my advice, if you ever planning to do it, make sure that they put you to sleep, and then you will wake up very satisfied. BELIEVE ME.

I had this procedure once in Backnang, Germany. It was absolutely no problem. The sedative shut down all my nervousity and anxiety :) This video is too dramatic. Interesting to see my esophagus on the screen.

I had this procedure twice. First time, they shot me full of drugs but they didn't work--I felt the whole thing, and it was utterly horrible. I can't describe how miserable it feels to have a tube rammed into your stomach while you are retching against it. Second time--drugs worked, just woke up in another room. Bottom line--if you're at all conscious don't let them start. Don't just assume the drugs will kick in. Demand proper anesthetic before they proceed!!!

I MAKE THIS EXAM every 4 years and it has never been like this!!!I sleep like a good boy and wake up really relaxed and happy laughing like a drunk guy hahaha. I even prefer it from going to the doctor!!!YOU JUST NEED A NICE DOCTOR AND A GOOD NURSE TO spray you a bit more in your throat and you wont feel a thing. One tip from me. ASK FOR A BIT MORE (dormicum)thats the sleeping medicine & have someone to accompany u!!

I had a gastroscopy today and it was NOTHING like this! My doctor sprayed my throat to numb it and then the sedation kicked in! I don't remember anything and I didn't feel anything, not even a sore throat! DON'T LET THIS VIDEO GET YOU SCARED OR FREAKED OUT! IT IS NOT LIKE THIS VIDEO (AT LEAST IN THE UNITED STATES)!!!!!!!!!

I had it today too. It is nothing. Anesthesia for the throat and sedation are used also in Costa Rica. Even though I did not fell asleep complete, I wasn't fully aware of the instruments inside and did not feel anything. I even forgot the afterwards. Probably no sedation and anesthesia were used with the patient in this video.

But he didnt have the sedation just the spray,he wretched so much he was sick, just bile from his stomach mind you but dont let this person mislead you by telling you it isnt like this because it IS if you dont have sedation !!!! I had this done to me today. Its uncomfetable, and i did gag like 5 or 6 times in total, but once the camera has gone a certain depth down its not too bad. its the inflation of the stomach that feels weird too. I'm glad its all over though now lol

But seriously - don't be afraid. It's just unpleasant - you will retch but you won't vomit (you can't eat before the test). It's also strange and a bit painful feeling when the tube goes down into the stomach. But when it is inside you (I know, it sound terrible;) and doctor takes biopsies, you think: "it's going to the end, I stick it out" and you feel better. After gastroscopy you may feel weak and broken physically but mentally... it's just catharsis:)

I keep my fingers crossed for good results of gastroscopy. I'll get to know mine next week and I'm very afraid of them. Eh, life is brutal...

OMG...the sound effects! The poor guy was gagging and urping the entire time!They placed an emesis basin near him to vomit but yet he couldn't even do that because he was plugged up by the garden hose! I have to have an EGD next week for a throat tumor and I'll be darned if I'm doing it without sedation!

I have a phobia pain ... To make an examination of this, q would be sedated for several days, this procedure is very aggressive, with 21st century technology, since there could be other forms of examinations, without causing pain and suffering to be human.

The scopes are reused.They are really expensive & not a dispolasble item.BUT they are ONLY reused after being through cleaning,sterilization etc.
They don't just get it & use it on the next patient.
