  • i'd like to see both of your portfolios of glass work. otherwise good bad or indifferent yall should be quiet.

  • I like how the first post to this is "Master"... wow, what an easy word to throw around these days. The problem I am having with this vid is the silver spoon aspect. I went to his site and here is the timeline: he goes to art school after highschool, then design school, then builds a million dollar facility (island) to make his glass a year later. Sorry if I'm off (don't think I am), but this is hard for someone like me to see.. knowing many friends in the trenches trying to afford their glass.

  • @dbrooke1129

at least he didn't sit on his ass and do nothing, he gained a very hands on skill, and he did so by earning it. thats cool in my book.

  • @dbrooke1129 Silver Spoon or raw talent? 2 years after high school some of his work caught the attention of a former ceramics teacher. She helped to get his peice entered in a scholarship contest @ CCS. He wins first place and wins the student contest each year till he graduates. Then he and his partner work out of various studio and tour the country doing art shows till they scrape up enough money to buy an old industrial building. He then designs and outfits the building himself.

  • @Spaceysowhat Silver Spoon. You make a good joke if you think he paid for that studio (and building) from some art shows after highschool. A good up-and-comer he may be, a "master" he is far from.

  • @dbrooke1129 Did I say he did the art shows after high school? He did the art show circuit for several years after college. Then after years of selling out at art shows they bought the building. He designed the studio and installed all the studio equipment himself (saving much money). I'd say he has mastered that form, not to mention the detail he has put into them. They are way more complex than those bulb mini sculpters that in the videos that you have posted.

  • Really great work and well made video. Thanks for posting.

  • I like his turning technique. :-)

  • man i wish i was that good. hopefully in a few years i will be.
