Half the time Jimi played live his guitar wasnt even in tune. But it probably sounded fine to him, due to the drugs maybe. He did have tremendous ability, but it didnt always show through. A lot of the time he just made noise and hit a lot of bad notes. So when people say he was the best... I dont agree. I mean he may have been experimenting with sounds or whatever, but his actual technical ability is probably overrated.
@truthhawk7 I agree with you! You're absolutly right! Hendrix was just a scout. But created a new way of playing the guitar. With a lot of distortion and fast riffs he created simple licks and new riffs. Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Eric Johnson, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Brain May and even slash is inspired by him! I think Jimi died too early to learn more. And maybe if he didn't died he was now one of those old rockers who look like they are old and dusty, but still can play good.
he always appears to be one of the most polite and down to earth performers. reminds me of the working man guitarist in a way. His stuff is so eccentric and standout that just him alone fills stadiums. If there are people reading these posts that don't like him you should probably realize there are only a handful of people in the world who fill stadiums just from guitar alone, with no vocals. That is ridiculous talent

@wavular Okay. Joe is my idol. I love him to death, but consider this. What if someone doesn't like speed shredding? I am a guitarist, and sometimes, shredding makes me want to gag. Its very easy to shred, and very hard to play with your soul. Infact, the only reason I absolutely adore him is because he has songs with a lot of emotion in them. He's good at shredding, but to be honest, it's not as impressive as something like "Always with you always with me". He put a lot of heart in that.
@ArkVel Always With Me Always With You it is --sorry-- and it is one of the best guitar songs ever written. Shredding is for the ones that have no emotion--and dare I say limited talent.
