  • u need to go slower i can c wat yer doin

  • oh my he is canadian

  • Hi Mikey, I absolutely adore this pattern, thanks for sharing it!! I've created one for my niece who's fav colours are red, pink and purple...wasn't sure the colours would blend together, but gave it a go anyway, think it turned out beautifully and can't wait for her to open it at Christmas! I love your colour combo in this tutorial that I've bought similar colours & have just finished 2 baby blankets in them, one for a new great nephew and one to donate to a local hospital. Thanks again!! xxoo

  • wat size crochet hook to use when you are making a blanket

  • Do you remember what material you used?

  • i cont see what the hell you was doing

  • How much yarn is needed to make this baby blanket

  • @AhmaAhpa100 hello this is chanel @mikeys helpdesk....its hard to say exactly how much yarn you will use but for a baby blanket I would start with 2-3 of each color and then get more if you need it!!

  • Hi and thank you for your great tutorials! I am a beginer and would like to know the best size crochet hook to use. I see that it appears as though you are using the same hook in several of your videos. What size do you use? Thank you so much!

  • @bevie125 mikey usually uses a sz J hook unless he says otherwise!!! A J sz is a good sz to learn with too!!

    chanel @ mikeys helpdesk.... :)

  • you confused the hell out of me

  • Very nice. I'm doing a blanket with 5 colors. Thank you for your video.

  • This is beautiful! I'm using this in a hat :)

  • The colors remind me of a rubber ducky! <3

  • can I get the pattern to this. thanks

  • @misstinkerbell1974

this is not in written pattern form only a video.....sorry....you could play the video and write it out if you want to!!

    Chanel@mikeyssmail helpdesk

  • Im a beginner and have the regular stitches down well. I can learn how to do this but I need you to go a lot slower and show me exactly how to do the pin wheel and ill be golden! lol. I just started crocheting 2 days ago.

  • @lameexcuse17 hey this is chanel from the crochet crowd helpdesk aka mikeyssmail.....unfortunately there is no way to slow down the video and it takes a long time to make the videos! what I do is just keep rewinding the video over and over til i get it.........

    good luck

    Chanel :)

  • The color threw me off!!! J/K it was very helpful thank you!!!

  • I have made an afghan with this pattern with the following colors: red white and black. It is very nice but not quite as nice as Mike's. Your color choices are just out of the world. Thank you for sharing your skill.

  • IF I didn't tell you before, I want you to know how special you are... the love you put into these videos is just amazing to me, what a gift to so many people. I learned to crochet last year because of your gift, I'm 52 and just love it. Thank you !!

  • I was just wondering but, can I use a size J hook instead? I'm going to try and run to AC-Moore and try and get a K hook this weekend. Most of the crocheting I do is with the smaller hooks. The largest I have right now is J. But I think I might try it anyway because I'm not sure if I'll be able to run to the store & get a size K. I'll let you know if it looks good though! I hope it does!! :)

  • @MissLoveLifeLaugh1 you could totally use a sz j hook for this!!!!!

your stitches will be a little smaller but a J hook isnt much different from a K hook!

have fun with it and good luck

    Chanel@mikeyssmails helpdesk

  • what size hook did you use?

  • What size hook did you use?

  • THANKS MIKEY

  • Don't go off camera, it's hard to follow you even with audio.

  • @Nethercore it is very hard to film and stay in the camera .. its a lot harder than it looks :O)

  • He doesn't tell us if he is doing a sc or a dc....hrd to follow

  • Maravilhoso, ainda mais por ser um homem a fazer este crochet, fico feliz e orgulhosa em ver isso. Parabéns!!!!

  • How do you determine how much yarn a project will take? Do you have the amounts for this wavy shell stitch blanket? Thank you for your excellent instructions.

  • Great job n thanks for sharing! cute color combo btw.

  • oh wow I thought those needles were only for knitting n I hv been using the sm pin since high school. thnks 4 d video

  • I love this .I am making one for a baby with the baby yarn . i am useing to different color blues and a white and it looks good Thanks

  • I'm going to start this today :-)

Psst, half of a half is a quarter... so your would do a quarter pin wheel

  • @MsAbrown81 You are totally right. This is one of the first videos I ever recorded and I was nervous as hell! LOL

  • Does anyone know what brand name and shade of yellow is being used for this project? Thank you

  • @UmbraSleepz I tend to use BERNAT for most of my stuff... or it's RED HEART... the yarn was bought at WALMART.

  • @mikeyssmail Hi again sorry to bother, unless it is a trade secret I would appreciate the name of the shade of yellow being used as I have to order it on line. I've been to (5)Walmart, Target (no craft dept.) (3) Hobby Lobby and K-Mart(no craft dept.) with no luck. It looks like RH Kids Yellow but that just a guess and probably wrong.

    Thank you

  • I started a blanket on this pattern last night using the 3 color change, and is already looking awesome. will post a video when done :)

  • Thie is not a pinwheel it's called shell stitch and if you look it up under it's proper name you will find a tutorial video that will show you how to do this stitch propely and it will be explained easier. This stitch is NOT suitable for a beginner the pattern is too complicated for a beginner. If you're going to make a vidoe give people the proper name of the stitch or they will never learn properly. On another note, this pattern is nice but you need to learn to explain things properly.

  • I love this pattern, thanks:) I'm definately making this one. Thank you for your channel. It's very inspiring.

  • Hi Mikey, I don't usually comment on youtube videos but I want to tell you that you inspired me on the blanket that I'm making (my first project ever) but somewhere I went wrong. My blanket began to curve. But, I kept with the design of the pinwheels with a multi-colored stitch. Then I added a solid color with a double stitch. I don't know how it's going to turn out but thank you for the inspiration.

  • I am brand new to crocheting. I started to make this blanket last night, but now that I am six or eight rows into it, I'm wondering when I am done with the rows, how do I finish the edge? Is there a video for that that I'm just not seeing? Thank you!

  • you could double crochet all the way round the edge for 2 rows remember to chain 1 stitch for each double crochet you do round the corners or it won't curve properly :-) or you could do one row of double crochet and 1 row of shell stitch (this guy is calling it a pinwheel for some stupid reason) that would look really pretty. Good luck with it

  • thanks

  • thank you, i tried to make a similar afghan following a free leaflet i got @ michaels and was so confused. i repeatedly ripped it out and was so frustrated. i printed up your pattern and watched your tutorials and i am doing great. thanks again!

  • I find the Video very helpful, but like everyone else, I think you need to slow it down a bit. Keep making the videos, because you know what your doing c

  • i cant see the pinwheel stitch and you go pretty fast! :[ can you make another video slower?

  • hey can you go a bit slower with the pinwheel?

  • ok, im a bit confused on the pinewheels...i think you're going a bit too fast

  • I love the unique look multi-colored yarn gives.

  • can i do this we plastic bag yarn can do it and how to start and to finish ok

  • He holds the hook very different.. not used to seeing it done like that, therefore makes it a bit hard to watch how the pattern is done.

  • yeah my mom showed me that way... the other way doesn't work for me at all... but the way I am holding it is pretty common too! :)

  • love the colors! I hold the hook the other way.. have tried it this way but ends up being too loose for me... I guess I tend to crochet tight

  • Everyone learns their own way; I taught myself to crochet and found out about 30 years later that I didn't hold the needle the 'right way', or form the stitches the 'right way'. I still get the work done and very well I might add :)

  • @mikeyssmail I crochet the same way, and my mom just can't figure it out! She uses her hook to crochet, and I'm all fingers. BTW, the stich you used to make your half pinwheel is a double crochet :P You seemed to ignor the name of the stitch and jsut say "do this!"

  • lol.... i had never seen a men doing this....

    veryy cool your vid dude....

  • Hi Mikey, thanks for putting up video on such a beautiful blanket. Could you please tell how much yarn would it take to do blanket for a queen size and/or twin size? Thanks!
