  • Robert, no sabía que eres de España. Te hubiera comentado de una vez en español. Realmente me gusta mucho como suena este solo de corno inglés. El segundo movimiento de esta sinfonía es excelente. ¡Saludos!

  • Wow.

  • Don't you know where I can find the sheet music of this part?

  • @raflink89 imslp.org has all public domain scores/parts. Tons of cool stuff on that site. Pretty much anything older than 70 years old (I thiiiink) is free on that site.

  • @duneman711 thank you very much!

  • Really beautiful!

  • i quite enjoyed thid

  • that looks painful

  • wowww 5 people need to shut the fuck up and get some dick up there ass.

  • simply beautiful

  • omigod u r freaking amazing. ur tone is incredible, beyond breath taking, and i luv ur phrasing

  • omigod u r freaking amazing. ur tone is incredible, beyond breath taking

  • I understand that these phrases are long, and you need air. However, when you breathe, open up your throat. When you can hear a gasping sound, it means you are breathing in an unhealthy way.

  • so i wanna say its basically a bigger obeo?

  • @sarcasticasian in the key of F

  • So beautiful. How can you move someone so much in only two minutes, with a single instrument.

  • @Caramellatta

    and with a single melody!!!!

  • @Caramellatta technically, it was only a minute and 53 seconds...but it sounded pretty anyways!

  • Hey, I play English horn too! Please check out my audition for this year's YouTube symphony, it's on my channel. Sounds good!

  • .... WE CORS PLAYERS CAN PLAY A H**L OF ALOT MORE MSIC THAN DVORAK !!!!

iT annoys me how Everyone films themselves playing this ONE excerpt. Never anything good[ not saying dvorak isn't good] but in an audition play this if they ask you to , but learn something else, c'mon people get original

  • Never seen embuchure quite like that, but wow... u have great vibrato control! However, you could vary it a little...

  • Without a doubt, this is probably the most beautiful and expressive solo I've ever seen! What kind of English Horn are you using.

  • Never seen embuchure quite like that, but wow... u have great vibrato control!

  • yo te voté x)

  • I've never actually heard an english horn let alone seen one that wasn't just a cut out in gradeschool... Pretty epic :O

  • Ah, I do love Dvorak! This is one of my favorite symphonies he composed.

  • omg...playing the oboe since four and a half year and have had played the englishhorn half a year..so i know what I say..your tone ist extremely good..sounds so unbelievable beautyfull!!!! keep up, I want to hear you in an professional orchestra

    regrets from germany

  • I adore you.

With such an emotion and so well played.

    Thank you for posting this!

  • Did you make it in the youtube symphony, because i think you should have because you just play so beatifuly and expressive

  • This is absolutely breathtaking.

  • you have a great sound, but try to breathe with less noise. it's also possible to breathe in less time. go on!

  • Great tone but immensely boring vibrato. Too static, please have some variation.

  • does the english horn have similar fingerings to the oboe because i play the oboe and want to learn how to play the english horn

  • @DSKEVERYDAY The fingerings are exactly the same ... kind of like piccolo and flute are exactly the same.

  • lovely tone

  • I fell in love with that version...

  • this guy looks like a dumb ass when he breaths.

  • @phlyboy123 nothing says dumbass like a misspelled insult, fairy boy.

  • loves this

  • omg vibrato is so had to do... i have tried so many ways to help... but no...

  • wonderful

  • amazing high note, c i think. that ones hard for armatures like me. =]

  • Well now I have a tone to look for. I had to pick this up ad have presentable skill in a day from bassoon, tuba and trombone. Fun day to say the least

  • While I do disagree with the jaw vibrato and agree with others who said it is for single reed instruments (former sax player here), you were fantastic.

  • Jaw Dropping :)

I just picked up the english horn recently because I am playing in the pit for our high school musical (Wizard of Oz!). I have been playing oboe for a number of years, but I never really heard this instrument. I'm so glad I got to hear it this way :)

  • @daquire

I also heard jaw movemen was the way @ doing Vibrato on EH

  • Im going to start playing english horn soon

  • Uf,Robert tio eres un máquina:-).Es un plaer escoltarte:)se vegem,cuidat.

    In english:Impresionant!!!!jaja

  • Thanks for posting - the New World Symphony has been stuck in my head for decades now, ever since playing it (bass fiddle for me) in high school orchestra.

  • i would guess with the lip/jaw. it doesn't sound choppy, and the pitch changes. If it was the stomach, it would be one note, and it would sound choppy.

  • @HyperAX5 Thats not completely true. You could do the same with using your diaphram to vibrato. =P

  • Well actually, it's more stable to use your jaw. You can do it longer without having to breah, since moving your diaphram strains it, which you need to create a foundation for good tone quality. Thus making "diaphram vibrato" poor technique.

  • See when I'm playing I find that my tone suffers when trying to use my jaw. =/ But I'm not that great Oboe yet so that could be it. I had always heard that Jaw vibrato was more of a Sax thing. Oh well.

  • well for sax, The jaw vibrato is a must, that diaphram stuff isn't going to cut it.

But for Oboe/english horn, you could get by using the diaphram vibrato untill you develop the jaw vibrato. Because the jaw vibrato is hardest to learn, but it is best in the long run.

  • @HyperAX5 no no no. that is completely false about the oboe. it is the best to use on sax, because it is a single reed instrument. diaphram vibrato is standard on the oboe

  • would that make you pinch the reed or something?

  • @HyperAX5- If you use your jaw, then you would be making your tone go sharp and flat. your mouth shouldn't move with vibrato, moving your mouth messes up your sound more than moving your diaphram.

  • Good job :)

I was wondering any tips on getting that high C not flat

    Everytime i play this part

The High C tends to be flat.

    Any help?

  • That problem is most likely caused by your bocal. What kind of bocal are you currently using?

  • The problem withery normal high c is definitlly not a bocal problem. It's a problem lot's of english horns have. That's just the fun of playing english horn. When you put your reed a little bit more in your mouth and push your lips a little more than usual. Follow this tip and your c will be perfect!!

  • If you would learn to circular breathe, you would be sooooooo much better. You're pretty damn good right now though. :)

  • Some of the best english horn playing I've heard outside of a major orchestra! Just a bit slow for my taste, but he pulled it off!

  • ¡Sencillamente genial!

  • i want an english horn so bad.. i have a fox 400 oboe right now. lol. double reeds for life!

  • You have a wonderful tone and that vibrato is magnificent!

  • Dude, you can play. This was beautiful. Thank you.

  • what english horn is that? Loree?

  • This last month I've listening to a lot of english horn music. I think it's my favorite instrument. I'd like learn to play one so bad but I won't have the money for it anytime soon. For now I'll just listen.

  • Great tone and dynamic range. Bravo!

  • Amazing job.

  • Fantástico!

  • OMG...You have so much feeling i can hear it....that was very beautiful. I love the english horn. I just started playing it after a little over a year of playing. Very beautiful instrument. Thank you so much for this performance. :)

  • I want an english horn... so awesome

  • Beautiful

  • very delicate. a great performance.

  • de p*** mare, m'ha encantat.

  • .. genial I almost cry !! *-*

  • This melody was written by Dvorak to symbolize a funeral dirge for the "Song of Hiawatha" by Longsfellow. So therefore playing at a faster tempo would only take away from the feeling of the peice. If you are in an concert hall, you would not be able to hear the breathing over all of the strings. This is a top quality english horn player. You are wrong.

  • Sajhu360 ... le dijo la superpop a la enciclopedia...

  • You dont have idea. You have to see this boy in alive, is incredible. other thing, how you take the breath, by ear?

  • This makes me want to quit music. I can't compete with this!

  • Comment removed

  • don't try to compete, love what you do and enjoy it.

  • i didn't even know this instrument existed, it's wonderful! I just LOOOVVVEEE how it sounds! I'm pretty sure it's a woodwind, but it sounds like a brass instrument, because it's pitch is so clear (unlike clarinets, which are rather squeaky)

  • This is a double-reed - belongs in the same family as (and fits right in between) the oboe and bassoon.

Personally, it was my favorite to play (I played all 3), because of the tone.

Listen to the William Tell Overture sometime - check out the english horn solo in that one!

  • beautiful, simply magnificent... its so nice that my tears started flowing out... one of the best english horn i've ever heard...

  • isn't tht the instrument that the alien at the bar in star wars played

  • To Ozzii - go back to that hole you crawled out of!! I can't believe you have the nerve to say this is "not real skill" - have you ever tried to play english horn? Any double reed?

Yeah it takes skill to play a guitar, but it's a different skill. This english horn player is absolutely incredible. The tone he creates in angelic. Let me tell you that the "slow sleepy" songs are some of the most difficult to play because it takes such breath control.

  • muy bueno, sí señor!

  • Please tell me where you are from...

I went to the YouTube Symphony site and wanted to see who won the double reeds. I was impressed with the oboes, but when I clicked on this video it took my breath away and I began to cry.

I played oboe and english horn in high school and college. I was going to major in music but life's hardships got in the way and I didn't finish.

Today it is my single greatest regret in life.

Hearing this young man play brought me more joy than I can I can describe.

  • he's from Spain, check his profile

  • To Taraborn, I did some more research and discovered this - thanks :)

  • @HecticEclectic

Life is not over and you could always try an audition back in to do music. I'm a music graduate but because of my injury I could not play my instruments any more. I have to result to finally changing my major to voice which brings me no where since I'm in a new country.

    Don't give up. Try......

  • @HecticEclectic who says you cant go to a music store and pick it up again?

  • I tant que ho has fet molt bé, tot i que ho he trobat un pèl massa lent... Felicitats pel teu èxit! Que et vagi molt bé, que t'ho mereixes! :-)
