Thank you for proving most American's are stupid. I was born in America raised by Europeans and I understood this movie, everything clearly was beyond you since you lack these basic thought process. You probably loved Dark Knight or think the American Office is funny.
It's certainly true that a lot of people wouldn't like it...mostly jaded American viewers, who can't grasp the subtle humor or cope with a 'sad' ending.
I truly loved this movie, minute for minute...even the ending, it was just so fitting. Too bad more American films can't be like this...Little Miss Sunshine is the closest I've seen in a while.
One of the things I like about this film is its tone. You don't get many films here in the states that have such an understated tone. It was refreshing.
I saw this movie in March,2005. It's a little independent film that was oddly moving by the end. A review I liked pointed out that the meaning of the title didn't mean Schultze was sad. Rather, it portrayed the fact he "got" the blues--he dug the zydeco music, fell in love with it.
The only thing that disappointed me a bit in the movie was the fact that there were not more different songs in it. For the rest it's a cute little movie, and you don't really need to know either german or english to understand what is going on, which is nice.
One of my favorite movies ever! I go to Oktoberfests in America every year and this film nails them. Ha ha.

Zusammen mit "Oi!Warning" ist dies der beste Film, um einen bestimmten Zeitabschnitt des menschlichen Wesens zu beschreiben.

Saw it when I was 16 and absolutely adored it. It made quite the impression on me. The theme of freedom has stayed with me.

a movie of total randomness and dullness. This movies plot is about a guy who plays the same music over and over again very badly..
