I just find it preposterous that someone would compare playing Rockband to playing a real instrument. It's like comparing Bad Company 2 to shooting a real gun.
Hi I understand what you are saying, but I'll try and make my point clear. I believe for a number of reasons that a person would be so much better off in their life if they took the energy it takes to play this game well, and put it into actually playing a real guitar. And I know it's not easy to get high scores in this game.
To interact with others in playing, or even writing a song is just a far better use of time and much more rewarding to play live music to friends.
@41point2 ~ I actually get what you're saying even if others don't. In what's probably less time than it takes to master a song in the game you can learn some chord shapes and actually play songs on a real guitar. It's not just the rock band type games though. What about sports games? Kids could be out playing sports and keeping fit. Instead they're glued to the t.v. only working out their thumbs.
dude that was awesome.:D like oh sweet jeebus! hahaha. seriously thats awesome you are good at guitar i never wouldve been able to guess that with the way you play here:)
I loved this song way back when I had the Replacements "Pleased To Meet Me" on tape. It's hilarious seeing it here w/ that animated guy and the flames. You're killing me guy.
@waffles1993 - Alex Chilton was a musician from Memphis whose biggest hit came with a band called The Box Tops in 1967 -- "The Letter." You know the song. Most people don't know he was just 16 years old when he sang for that record. Chilton's band "Big Star" was -- like The Stooges and Velvet Underground -- too far ahead of its time for its own good. Big Star never had a big hit in its day but a hugecult following. Influenced many -- thus a Replacements song in his honor. Check out 'Sept Gurls'
The man that this song was named after died today. R.I.P. Alex Chilton, I have no idea who you were, but you at least had a good song written about you.
Alex Chilton wrote the #1 international radio hit "The Letter" when he was 16, and later formed the band Big Star who wrote the song "In the Street" (prominent due to its uses as the theme for "That 70's Show") amongst about another 100 tracks or so. All of his songs were, in my opinion, very good, and very real. The song that is named after him was written by the replacements, and the mandolin solo that comes in at 3:04 was played by Peter Buck, lead guitarist for REM.
Alex was one of the leaders of the 70s band Big Star (also singer of the earlier band the BoxTops). Both REM and the Replacements spoke about how much he influenced them.
If you want to just play the song without beating the game go to the main menu under like cheats or codes or whatever and play: Red Yellow Blue Red Red Blue Blue Red Yellow Blue
I've bought RB2 just for this song, and have been trying sice Christmas to unlock it. Have had to suffer through bad Rush songs and the like countless times and still haven't found it. Where does it come up, as in what city/gig or challenge?
Hmmm. i really dont know about that.. i think is in the first gigs.. if not.. well i think i got it in an online match, try making a friend play with you and then he leaves so you will get the whole rockband 2 tracklist
After that try playing it and see if you got it in single player, if not play with ya friend and see if that works
You can unlock all the songs real quick by playing the challenges (I don't recall if that's the name). After creating you band, play the "decades" challeges... ie. 80's challenge, 90's challenge... etc... There's also an unlock code, but I don't think that's what your looking for.
Doesn't matter how...it's knowin' you found a good one that counts. Cheers! If you're a rock guy Tim will flip your wig. A punk guy, Sorry Ma...Hell all their albums are good.
Oh they are an amazing band..."Tim" and ""Let It Be" are fucking classics...But damn near everything they put out was at the very least good...Great band...Keep looking...Lots of great music that dips under the radar...
It's about Alex Chilton, a member of Big Star, which is a power pop band that was very influential but not nearly as successful as the bands it influenced.
Paul Westerberg, the singer of The Replacements, was a big fan of his and wrote this song about him and what it would be like if he got the success he rightfully deserved.
DUDE. he never screwed up after a fill. who cares if they don't sound the best..? he might be playing on an HD tv too, which delays the sound after you hit the pad.
Yeah, I'm running this on 360. The video isn't top notch though. Before I got some usb extension cables, I had to physically move my crappy computer to capture this video, then shut down essentially every program to get an acceptable result.

I so hate Rock Band or any video that lets you, "Pose".
Why not get a real guitar!
Believe me it won't take that much more to learn to play and you would then be the Real Deal.
All you life, you know that Posers suck and now there's a video game to make you one.
41point2 1 year ago
@41point2
Uhh... I don't know ANYONE who has approached a game of this genre with the hopes that it would teach them how to play the guitar.
This cat is pushing a watermelon out of a lake. Your argument is invalid.
