It was hardly a genocide. It was war. Ukraine suffered the most casualties during the 1940's. More than Poland.
Volhynia was Ukrainian territory which was invaded by Poland. It was not like Ukraine was fighting on Polish grounds. Volhynia was Ukraine's territory.

But killing children, pregnant women, elders, just to erase polish ethnic minority, torturing, citting ears, legs, hands, putting stones, glass or living rats in female stomach in place of killed unborn child - it has nothing to do with war. This is a sick, disgraceful slaughter.
@grzegoszwu no country is immune from mass murder - you failed to mention the years of terrible and disgraceful Polonisation, political and economic repression that Poland placed on Ukrainians in Vohlynia and Belarus and Lithuania - Poles deported Ukrainians just to resettle their lands with thousands of Polish immigrants who represented less 20% of population of Vohlynia, - the world is full of similar reprisals - let that be a lesson for future Poles to stay out of Ukraine

Poles and " Kozaks " have been fighting each other for hundreds of years. Ukie catholics 14th SS division " Galicia". Fought for the nazies under the banner of fighting the soviets/bolshovics/jews. The Unia/catholic church has been waging a war in the east for years.,
