For anyone wondering the Allchin is now in Ireland. In fact the owner is a family friend and i often have the privilage of driving it. The owner is Fred and his son Steve Jenkinson and it now looks great.
I recorded this from TV when it was first shown, and watched it many, many times thereafter. The release of the DVD was so welcome. I love everything about this movie.
I believe George was living nearby at the time of the filming, but not with the rest of the family. He does in fact appear at the end of the film, on the back of the traction engine, with his small son.
the most innovative piece i have seen in a long time. a touching intrerpretation of people who might be seen as oddballs in society. a must see for documentary lovers.
Like visiting another planet. I find the women excitingly feral (perhaps I just need neutering). Where was the mother, buried in the woods?

I remember seeing this on TV back in the early 80's. I always wondered what happened to them all.

Hi Smelly555,
I stand corrected. it was actually Ron and not George who was on the back of the traction engine.

I first saw this on tv in the mid 80s and it stayed with me for 20odd years until I bought the dvd last year.
Can't believe how much of it I remembered after all that time.
Truly unmissable.
