It saddens me that you think prayer can atone for your mistakes. So you were an idiot, and drunkenly crashed a car, and maybe killed someone else doing this? So to make up for this, you go to a church to make yourself feel better. Masturbation for your mind. Did you get your friend a new car? Are you devoting yourself to preventing other kids from having drunk driving accidents? Or are you praying and spending time/money at this church. If there is a God, your actions would be an insult to it.
@rasperfat I think that we do have to show our faith through actions, if i believed in him and i prayed with all my heart, then I would want to have a communication with God, and then i would read his Word and obey what it says in it and i would put his words in my heart and would try to live up according to his word. @hesuffered4us Right. You're proving my point. It's about YOUR communication with God, about YOUR heart. You're still only interested and "learning" about God if it in some way benefits you. Where is the righteousness in that? Also, do you have any evidence of God responding to your prayers at all?

These prayers serve to comfort you, and nothing else. Which is fine, but don't act like self-soothing somehow makes you virtuous. And please realize that going to church suddenly can't lead to forgiveness or redemption for the same reasons prayer can't.
@rasperfat Well Prayer is the first step then you gotta make the 190 degree turn. In the Bible it says he who does not deny himself take up his cross and follow me is not worthy of being my disciple. Disciple meaning follower of Christ, ok deny ourselves, deny our fleshly desires this includes friends who are bad influence on us give up on the things that the world provide us. Then it says we need to take up the cross, its interesting how Jesus shows us that we need to take this cross with us.

@rasperfat If you knew that there was someone out there that came just to die for you and then he resurrected to give you life and grace, you would want to fight your fleshly desires and you would want to stay away from sin because God does not like sin and thats why he came and died for it. the final sacrifice is done its up to us if we want to take up this sacrifice and believe that he died and on the third day resurrected. Why am I obligated to do something for a "gift" I never ask for? You can't give someone a Ferrari at birth and then be all, "Okay! Now you owe me $250,000. No backing out. Btw interest compounds weekly." I would be impressed if you could give a cogent definition of sin, and clearly outline what all actions count as sin, and why.
@rasperfat In the begining God created men and men had a relationship with God they always desired to talk to him and always walked before him doing everything that was pleasing, and God said you can eat out of every tree but one, so then Satan tempted Eve and Adam and they both ate out of it. If you ask yourself where did all these creations come from? and then ask yourself where did i come from, and then look why is there all these evil things going on in the world and when will it stop?
@rasperfat If you stop doubting yourself and stop letting satan controlling you then you will realize that there is something after death, because life wouldn't make sense we are humans we sense we feel things, there has to be something there and there is there is Grace, right outside our door, its up to us if we want to accept it. The origins of humans is a grand genetic line dating back for hundreds of millions of years. The beginning of everything is far more complex than we can understand, because we can only posit what happened since there were laws of physics, including time. We can end the suffering through knowledge, compassion, and advancing technology as a means to supply everyone cleanly.
