What if i take turmeric powder in milk with sugar usually i do that most of the time is that rite way, will it help.? and have even heard that Turmeric slows down HIV virus, is that true.?
@VICKTHEBARBER - I'm pretty sure it's safe 'in any amount' (I've never heard anything about turmeric/curcumin being toxic in high amounts). But you probably don't want to overload on it too much anyway - it has a pretty strong essence! I put a dash of it in green tea (also reported to kill cancer cells) & also use it in most cooked dishes - everything from soup to veg chili/burritos to fried potatoes, etc. (1/2 - 1 tsp is enough). Try to eat lots of green veggies & take Vitamin D3 too (not D2).
@peacerebelgirl Exactly, and always make sure the vitamins you take, if any, are NOT synthetic. Google the differences and make sure you buy real vitamins....synthetic ones cause harm and you're better off not taking some of them.
u guys are thinking of just cumin, the spice. you want to take tumeric curcumin, its made from the root of the plant that cumin is derived from. you can get it at gnc's and health stores.
@calicushsmoke wherever spices are available. You can get it online too. Here is where I last purchased mine theindianfoodstore (make that into a url or google it it wil take u to their site) . For 7 oz it costs just 2.99. Indian stores always carry it. I always have a cup of tea in the morning with half a lemon, honey and turmeric:) The taste grows on you and such an amazing way to start the day for your body.
You can find it in the spice sections of grocery stores. It's a dark yellow powder. Add about a tea spoon or maximum a table spoon of it to your food before/wile cooking (it's great with stews, pasta, etc). It actually makes your food much tastier.
@calicushsmoke theyre (the people who responded to your question) talking about just cumin, the spice. you want to take tumeric curcumin, its made from the root of the plant that cumin is derived from. you can get it at gnc's and health stores.

make sure what you buy is organic, otherwise you're not getting the vital health benefits.
