I bought the Evans Real Feel (Guess the same as the HQ-RealFeels in this video!) today and its very awesome! Small, not noisy and very good feel ! I suggest it! You can see me drum on it on my channel if you wanna have some more knowledge about the sound!
I recommend an HQ RealFeel. I have one. It's nice and quiet,(so I'm not exploding the house with my Remo one)has great feel, and has an additional hard chopbuilding side. It's good stuff.
@OptiTron43 I see were your getting at. And im not saying your technique is bad. im just saying....Damn!
Me and my sis are in drum corps and we are used to using good technique. Its just that when i saw this i crapped my pants. Your French gripping i think and using your back fingers on simple rolls, when they should only be used to HELP your hand roll at faster tempos like 180 or 200. And i know what you mean about how music is freedom yada-yada. But yeah..
i knw now never to try a mapex pad gosh that was the loudest thing in there prac pad nothin ppl are gonna hear that for sure which is what there meant to not do
I really like the Vic firth pad. It's clear and articulate and really exposes any discrepancies between your hands... like this guy obviously has. You can hear it really clearly on the Vic pad.
I have the HQ Realfeel...it has 2 sides. The one shown here is the quiet, soft side, and it also has a harder flip side. I take it in business trips, and makes those boring hotel stays a bit more fun.
I vote for the 3 ones of the middle row and the HQ from the upper row, the Mapex one is AWFUL and the black one next to the Mapex, sounds like if you were doing crossticks rimshots. My final choice, the HQ, is not noisy but lets you hear what are you doing, so you can listen to your progress and mistakes.
I learned nothing from this video about the pads other than their volume. Nothing about the feel, response, low end clarity, design, pretty much nothing about anything.
For me, I liked the HQ-RealFeels, I think it sounds softer, dosent make to much sound, which is better because you can practice with less noise. Im buying one of those. Thanks for posting this video.
i think that the HQ Real Feel is soft sounding, but would it be soft enough if i wanted to practice while my parents were asleep?

Invader is better than all of these combined. I hate the HQ Realfeel with a burning passion. HAaha.

why are you using your back fingers to roll?????? >.<
OptiTron43 8 months ago
@OptiTron43 Music is freedom..no rules dude. Its not 'wrong'.. i use fingers when I'm rolling at about 900+ bpm(on a drumometer)
Therysinx 7 months ago
@Therysinx I highly doubt you roll 900+ bpm.
malcolmgetscrazy 7 months ago
@malcolmgetscrazy W/e. Its not hard. youtube.com/watch?v=A0JpTeUO1ik
Therysinx 7 months ago
@Therysinx That video is at 153 BPM, not 900. The number of beat divisions within each bar do not change the BPM, only the NPS.
AdariUK 7 months ago
@Therysinx Nine hundred beats per minute. That's pretty fucking hard. No one goes over like 350.
malcolmgetscrazy 7 months ago
@Therysinx So basically you do 16ths at 60 bpm. That is not the same as 900 bpm.

mapex and peace were HORRIFIC!!!:/
for me the best 3 were:
3- VF PadGD, nice size and tone
2-Orenge 6, nice noise, maybe a bit too quiet so you cant hear what your doing, and
1-HQ RealFeel, nice balance of everything.
