I'm 22 years of age i've watched this movie twice or three times every year since i seen them in the theatre yet i still get teary eyed everytime they scream death the third time and the music kicks in the scene is so powerful :) and on top of that bernard hill improvised the part were he hits the spears with his sword.

This would ahve been even better if Gondor hadnt seemed like a bunch of whimps. In the books they are equally as bad ass as the Rohirim and they charge out the front gates to help the Rohirim as the Riders charge the flanks. ITS A DOUBLE WHAMMY in the books and the Swan Knights of Dol Amroth ride just as well. But what can you do the directors felt people wouldnt understand that Gondor was in trouble if it didnt look like they were baddies.

i find it funny how when watching lotr as a young lad, i admit my eyes watered at scenes like this because of the sad aspect. but watching as an adult, my eyes still water at many of the scenes, its just for different reasons. this scene is just one of the very powerful ones in this movie, as is the part where sam carries frodo. that bit gets me every time :P
