1. The arrow is supposed to be on the other side of the bow with thumb release because youre also holding the string from the other side though there are some people who actually shoot with thumb release and arrows on the left of the bow.
2. I use an assyrian horsebow AND a compound bow and I shoot BOTH of them with thumb release. The compound has the arrow window on the right side as well. Why do I do this? Because its fun to me! Most basic and best reason of all!
Thank you for the clear, informative demonstration. I am also pleased to know why so many of my tee shirts have holes in them. Now it's official. Thank you again.
@OsirisBlades For finger shooting yes but with the thumbring it goes on the right.. but I have seen Mongols shoot on the left side. I am not going to tell a Mongol that he is wrong tho ;)
@raginroadrunner I'm the know it all? You are the one one commenting on my video saying I should shoot a compound and not knowing anything about me. I am sorry if I am not buying what you are selling. You obviously have a lot of rage and problem. Shoot your compound and enjoy it but leave other people's choice of equipment be.
Shoot whatever ya want, but this thumb ring is outdated by about 800 years or more and is no longer useful excpt with a low enengy bow. nYur going nowhere with it.
Let's see someone shoot a modern cam compound bow or a high energy recurve and not some middle eastern piece of crap with the freakin arrow on the right side of the bow..come on mman it's 2011 not 1311...this proves nothing...
hi wonder if you can help, when i tried to use horn thumbring on my bow( i am a complete begginer to this archery style) when i try to draw the arrow back it wants to slip off my hand thats holding the bow and point at almost 45 degrees away from the target.it just doesnt want to stay straight!!! i am right handed but it happens wither i knock the arrow on the left or right side of the grip
is it really with only your index finger? Or are there more methods than just the one you're showing: For instance: I do kyuudo which uses a glove with the same indentation. I use my ring finger and my index finger is on top of the ringfinger.

@raginroadrunner . I am not sure what your point is. I haven't shot a compound since the 80s. Shoot what you want but don't tell me what to shoot. :)

@ninsgveen for lighter bows, I just use the index finger. But heavier bows require the ring and index fingers.

where did you get your ring? and will this work for modern recurves?
ugcsred2011 1 year ago
Did not get it. What was it? Or what it was intended to be?
