  • very nice model i love bombers from WW2 :)

  • @TheBlytonian Well, when I come across some music that I don't like (which is a rare occasion as I have a broad taste in music) I just turn the volume down.. :) That solves the problem! If you had done that instead of given a whingeing comment about something that really wasn't at all relevant to the build review, then you would have found out if it was interesting or not.. Never mind, I'll live long and happily either way, and so (no doubt) will you.. :) Thanks for replying.. :)

  • 'nother vid rendered unwatchable by dikhed musick (sigh) GONE ....

  • @TheBlytonian This is not a MUSIC channel, it is a MODELLING channel, and I can't help the copyright laws! Still, at the end of the day it is your loss, not mine.. take care now.. bye bye.. :)

  • @TheBlytonian There's no narration, just pictures and typed text - SO TURN THE VOLUME OFF AND JUST USE YOUR EYES, YOU COCK!

  • nice model

  • @MovieKid169 Thanks.. I had a few misshaps building it but I'm pleased with the end result.. :)

  • @BasicModelling You should be it's really good :)

  • time you got that bloody grass cut.......lol

  • @MagnusvsHaakan It keeps growing... :)

  • I wish my B 17s would come out looking that good.

  • @AustraliaYouBeauty I wish mine came out looking better.. :)

  • NICE :) WELL DONE

  • @STINKYPETE500X Thanks... :)

  • man i really want to build another model. im a littlte low on money though so i have to wait :(

  • @0909bram36 You and me both.. Not buying anything new at the moment, but I have a few kits in my stash so fortunately I'm lucky enough to still be able to build..

  • @BasicModelling yeah you are lucky!!

  • @0909bram36 Well, it has taken me a good few years to build up my stash.. Trouble is, new kits are coming out all the time, and I'm missing out on them now.. :(

  • @BasicModelling oh i bet. Some of the new kits are more expensive too.

  • @0909bram36 Yes.. so much now that I have to leave some of them on the shelf in the shop, for that reason alone.. I tend to build mainly kits from the 'pocket money' range, but even so they have almost doubled in price in the last few years.. Kits like the Revell 1/72 P-47 D, which I paid £3.50 for when I started the hobby again, is now costing me nearly £6.. :( Unfortunaltely my wages has NOT doubled in that time... sigh..

  • It looks so elegant with that double pattern! I´m not sure, however, if such a scheme corresponds to a squadron which painted all their B-17s that way or if this plane in particular lost one of its sections or halves and replaced it with one from another B-17 painted another way, as I read in some books... If that was the case, which was the original part of the aircraft; the front one or the back one!? 8·

  • @AlanMartinNala I think the front was the original, as the name follows the nose art.. :) At least they ended up with one working bomber, rather than 2 scrapped ones.. :)

  • thanks a lot, good to know it came out well in the end1 :), just one other question, do you have any recomendations for buying paint?

  • @mrpinguguy My own personal favourites are the Humbrol enamel paints, as they are so easy to handbrush... :)

  • where can they be purchased

  • @mrpinguguy I bought mine at Hannants.. Most model shops that stock Academy kits should have this kit, or be able to get one for you.. :)

  • Its nice to see it finished and its luck turned positive, thanks for uploading.

  • @joluqa Glad you liked it... :) :)

  • looks nice rob 5*

so wings are about 40 cm wide, or more?

  • @petrwarry1972 Something like that, yes.... :) :) Glad you liked it.. :)

  • Great job on the Fortress! Looks great!

  • @55oldscool Thank you, Sir.. :)

  • wow just beautiful, what a build

  • @leokimvideo Glad you liked it.. I have to say it is one of my better models... :) Thank you..

  • I now have the new revell b 17, well the latest on anyway :) found out that the one you built Is on the boxart! :) just had a peek in the box it's HIGHLY detailed! Way better than the old revell one! Yours is brilliant! Added to favorites :)

  • @wammyburger Yes, but the Revell version is different to mine, and probably more correct.. even if Revell is known to have got things wrong, occasionally.. :) I could only do mine like this as it was the option shown on the after market decal sheet.. :) I wanted the new Revell B-17 but it had sold out everywhere at the time, so I got the Academy kit instead... :)

  • Well Done on completing the B17, Very nice build and good use of spares

  • @Ryker45 Yes, I'm quite pleased with it, it turned out better than the original decals would have done.. :)

  • looks great :) my sherman is up on utube now :)

  • @dragonfire970 Thanks... I think I've seen your video by now.. or at least I hope I have,, :)

  • you should build a messerschmitt 109!!

  • @TheRolo96 I have built quite a few in both 1/72 and 1/48 scale.. :)

  • Wow Rob.

    Perfect finish !

  • @Zjwaamseliedjes Thank you very much.. :)

  • @basicmodelling Oh yeah now I remember that vid! Lol. How about a space shuttle or the s-3b Viking?

  • @IStrongAsBull Yes.. how about it?? :)

  • Make a b-24!

  • @IStrongAsBull I have already... :) :)

  • lovely looking model, that was the thing in WW2, allied bombers coming home damaged with no spares... right, theres 2 damaged unflyable planes, turn them into 1 flyable place and keep the spares incase of more damaged planes :D

  • @cestrianvlogger It made sense.. :) :)

  • Great save Rob,shes lookin good : )

  • @primativemodelling Thank you, kind Knit Sir.. :)

  • Excellent job as usual, well saved that man!!!!

  • @bruce3371 It turned out better than the original plan in the end.. :)

  • Awesome!

I should get a B17 like that aswell

  • @BerndenLivien Definetely!! :)

  • What a fantastic build. Excellent work all around. Btw, I'm building that space shuttle.

  • @Toppervision1 Looking forward to seeing it done.. :)

  • Brilliant model! Your b 17 is a beauty! :) I just came back from France just went for a couple of days. Went to visit my great uncle's grave he died in ww1 and my other uncle who died in 1944 in France he took part in the Normandy landings. Can't wait to watch the rest of your videos you posted while I was gone! :) :)

  • @wammyburger You haven't missed much, I only post about one a week.. :) Hope you had a good time in France. :)

  • It turned out pretty nice in the end didn't it! Was worth the long wait :)

  • @MrCycerath Yes, now I just need to clear some space for it.. :P

  • Looking good Robert :)

  • @strarscreamtheking Thank you very much.. :)

  • This one came out good. And the metal finish looks great especially since it was brush painted!

  • @badgrendels Thanks.. I have received great praise on model forums such as IPMS Stockholm and Britmodeller, for my brush skills when it comes to silver and natural metal finishes.. :) They never believe me when I say it is basic Humbrol 11 enamel paint.. :) :) 2 or 3 thin layers with a flat brush normally does the trick.. it's no fancy work.. :) :)

  • @BasicModelling It is still very impressive. I need to learn how to paint that smoothly with a brush... But for now the air brush will do.

  • @badgrendels There's a technique to everything.. One day I will get an airbrush.. I hope.. :)

  • It looks good!

  • @ww2hispanomodels Thank you... :)

  • Nice to see it finally finished.. :) I'll bet you're happy its over! The end result looks brilliant especially on the air base scene background.

  • @2002And Yes, I'm glad I got it done.. now I just need to motivate myself to get the Lancaster finished as well.. :) :)

  • @BasicModelling Yes, I wish you good luck!!.. :)

  • @2002And Yes, I will probably need it.. Trouble is, it is so much more tempting to build smaller, easier kits.. just to get some done.. than to struggle with the Lanc, which technically is fairly close to being finished.. :)

  • @BasicModelling Yes, I know what you mean.. spending ages on one kit is not very satisfying when you don't finish it after 3 weeks hard work. It feels much better to get a smaller easier kit done and completed ready to get on with the next one.

  • Dark photoes did not degrade the pix.in fact given them atmosphere.

  • @EmCSpiteri1 Glad you thought so.. and I have to agree.. having looked at them more closely. :)

  • perfect, well done chap looks stunning ; )

  • @TemplarsCrusade01 Thank you very much.. :)

  • strange looking bird that one but glad you finished it with music by Incompletech!"

  • @MrRandomWritings Well, there;s precious little other music out there to use.. especially for intros.. :)

  • awesome really looks a peach :D

just 1 question though, the black lines around the main wing edges and tailplane, how did u do them? i cant get my line to curve round the enges, yet still be a straight line? how do u mask it?

    thanks :D

  • @singningwongho The straight lines around the wings were masked with Tamiya 10mm masking tape.. The taiplane was painted freehand.. very carefully.. :) Glad you liked it.. :)

  • You did an awesome job on the fortress bro, looks great!! The details you put into it really makes it look realistic. Keep up the great work, peace!!

  • @cwazmann1 Thanks.. I do my best.. :) Have a car lined up for the near future as well, it's one of the new tooled Airfix kits, it's a Jaguar and looks a beauty.. at least in the box! I'll probably botch it, though.. :)

  • For sale? ahhaha awesome work man! Love it.

  • @GunBeryl Nope.. but I wish I was skilled enough to get a living from the hobby.. I'd love that.. :)

  • Great model I like it! :)

  • @tankman13p66 Glad to hear it.. Thanks.. :)

  • VERY nice build.

  • @faithfulcmm1972 Thank you kindly... :)

  • I don't think I have ever seen a B 17 in colour before. I didn't realise that until just now. Hmm....that's wierd. good video.

  • @TheMinisterofDefence They were all camouflaged to start with, but as the Allied air iorces gained air superiority and the Luftwaffe got hammered to the ground, the need for camo became less and less, and so most planes ended up in natural metal, which increased performance all round, as it made the planes quite a lot lighter.. :)

  • @BasicModelling I hadn't thought about that making them lighter. Interesting. Almost arrogant in a way. We have such air superiority that we don't even have to pretend to hide ourselves anymore....hmmm. A sad time to be living in a German city, I fear.

  • @TheMinisterofDefence Well, the paint in itself weighed a lot.. especially on a big plane such as the Fortress! And yes, the Germans got bombed both day and night.. but they harvested what they had sown in the first place, I guess.. and the horrible nature of war is such that for every 'guilty' person killed, there's an awful lot of innocent people killed too.. or at least it was in those days, before the introduction of the slightly more accuarate methods of today....

  • looks nice, id be happy if my hurricane was even close to that

  • @kieranfitz I'm sure it is.. :)

  • Great end result and an excellent rescue job!! I bet you swore several times throughout!!

  • @dondeyout1 Not now.. but during the process of the ifrst video, yes... :)

  • you should do an f-4 phantom :)

  • @everythingman987 I will do.. I got a kit of a Tiger Meet recce Phantom.. :)

  • @BasicModelling COOL!!!! i've wanted that kit, but instead i got a crappy hawasega 1:72 f-4e, the pieces just don't fit together i used up half my filler just for the nose and wings, not to mention the tail :/

  • Great finish and excellent rescue. Looks really great

  • @dondeyout1 Thank you kindly.. :)

  • Very nice I like the outdoors photo spread you have this time. The after market decals really set this kit apart very nice.

  • @MisplacedTexan4 Well, I had no option but to take the photos outside, as the model is too large for where I normally take my photos.. :) Glad you thought it looks good.. :)

  • B-17 is my favorite bombers :)

  • @joelalcantar69 It's a classic.. :)

  • nice like the fineshed look i have a premade flying fortress it was my grandad'she did not serve in ww2 but for some reason he bought it i dunno why anyway the strange thing is is that its from the same squadrom (the back end)

  • @thehjupo I see.. Well, I think it was quite a well known unit, they suffered a lot of losses, I think..

  • nice like the fineshed look i have a premade flying fortress it was my grandad'she did not serve in ww2 but for some reason he bought it i dunno why anyway the strange thing is is that its from the same squadrom

  • A very very good job!!!

    Love the painting:)) Simply fantastic!!!

  • @wolf6500 Thank you... that's a great compliment.. :)

  • so this B-17 had this look? 1/2 olive drab and 1/2 aluminum? not that I don;t believe it is correct but just that i';d not seen one like it...but it is your usual good work....

  • @granskare The real plane was a B-17 bomber that crashed, and they salvaged it by using the rear end of another crashed B-17.. so technically it's 2 planes joined together to make 1.. :) That's why it has two different paintschemes.. :)

  • @BasicModelling ahh, so a real world kitbash, huh? ha ha!

  • @BasicModelling so its a cut and shut basicly

  • @kieranfitz I guess so.. :)

  • @granskare It was very common during the war to take parts from one plane to complete another. This happened later on in the war as allies gained air supremacy and older damaged B-17s were cannibalized for parts..

  • Thats an excellent B17, well done on bring her to a good conclusion, especialy with all the challanges.

  • @chancerNW Yes, a challenge it was.. but I am pleased with the end result.. :)

  • B-17 Bomber one of my favorite bombers :) Ever play B-17 Bomber by Avalon?

    nice ! :)

  • @Mecha999x Nope.. sorry.. :) Glad you liked the model, though.. :)

  • Gorgeous build, nicely done on all the parts you added!

    Cat

  • @Catattafish Thanks.. it's all part of the hobby.. :)

  • superb model rob :) the paintwork is awesome, especially because you don´t use an airbrush.

  • @888HamilkarBarkas888 Thanks.. Yes, I have got a lot of positive comments on modelling forums, for my silver metal paint brush skills.. :) :)

  • NOW it looks better!!!!!!

  • @airfix45 Yes, I'm very pleased with the end result.. :)

  • Very nice build .

  • @TheSeasonman1 Thanks.. :)

  • awesome, just awesome, love the paint scheme, did you add the decal of the good looking girl on the side?

  • @angryace13 Not the one you probably think of, but yes.. there's a nice good looking girl on the side.. :)

  • Would you recommend this? I'm gonna get this kit next weekend and i need to know if it is a good idea to get it.

  • @SSAirsoftowns The kit is ok.. the decals not so much! That's why I had to buy after market decals.. and repaint the model.. :)

  • @BasicModelling Gunna make an Israeli B-17G if i ever get the time... or the money.. LOL

  • @MilitaryAircraft101 That should be good.. I want to make a Swedish Airliner version.. :)

  • @BasicModelling yeah i do like swedish examples, rather than us or uk. there are some air forces which take my fancy like sweden, israel, australia (of course), south africa, ww2 italian (those have COOL camo, I couldn't pull it off right now but one day right...) and yeah, they just take my fancy with smaller countries rather than superpowers.

  • @MilitaryAircraft101 Well, I will have to try and tackle some Italian camo soon-ish, as I have a few Italian aircrafts to build that served in the Swedish Air Force during and after WWII.. and the Swedes kept the original Italian camo for some reason, rather than overpainting them in standard Swedish colours.. Should be fun.. hm.. :)

  • Contrats!

  • @MADDD0GGG Thanks.. :)

  • Wow! What a beaut :) It really turned out great... The green and the silver goes good together.

  • @ModelloursWorkshop Yes, I'm quite pleased with how it turned out in the end.. :)

  • well done - very excelent modelling and paintwork

  • @100Tigrovi Thank yoiu very very much.. :)

  • one word - AWESOME!

  • @UnityCZ Two words - THANK YOU! :)

  • Yay, it's done! I have "renovated" a p51 d by italeri, a bf109 g-6 from airfix, and have nearly finished "renovating" my airfix beaufightar and have an airfix yak-9d to do,which I may convert into a yak 9-U.

  • @EPICCLES Renovating old models and make them better is good fun.. :)

  • A fine restoration... It looks like the genuine article.

  • @fehquig Thank you kindly.. :)

  • Gorgeous! And the fact that you have 'tinkered' with it makes it all the better, given that I've been know to 'tinker' with the odd kit here and there! I think it personalises your work and is a form of signature! Anyway, this is one of the nicest B-17s I've seen and has sown some seeds where my wife doesn't want any more seeds sowing - if you take my meaning! I quite fancy making that gunship conversion for the B-17, the YB-40!

  • @MakingModelsAgain As long as you don't have any 'red red wine' while you build... :)

Ok.. that was a bit far fetched, I guess..

  • @BasicModelling I just got that! :)

  • @MakingModelsAgain I told you it was far fetched.. :)

  • Vou this is very nice model with nice decals,,,,your wideos are better and better. You are my inspiration to built lot of models.Good luck to other videos and I´m waiting for new vid :))

  • @Davidxcat Thanks.. glad to be an inspiration.. :) Hope you liked my Twin Mustang too.. :) I'm posting a tank video next.. :)

  • the b17 in the museum is that the same sqn as the b17's on dogfights: luftwaffe deadliest mission?

  • @lkj802 I'm not sure.. possibly.. :)

  • that's probably one of the best b 17s i've ever seen!

  • @imbored214 T6hanks.. there are far better models of B-17's than this one, but I'm happy with how it turned out.. :)

  • amazing love my fortresses !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @lkj802 Thanks.. :)

  • just love it !

  • @edvinaskmito That was quick!! :) Thank you... :)

  • @BasicModelling when does tiger tank video out very want to wach it :)

  • @edvinaskmito I have built the tank, but I haven't made the diorama yet, so it will be a little while... :)

  • @edvinaskmito Posting the Tiger video now.. :)
