I have a 1957 O gauge Union Pacific, certainly not as fancy as yours, but I do love it. This would be a dream come true getting a nice big locomotive. Too bad we just don't have the room. :(-boo hoo.
@IAIS513 $1,800+shipping for one loco is a bit out of my price range right now. That due to scale differences between manufacturers, mixing USA trains with LGB doesn't look quite right - though I still have been thinking of picking up a GP9 anyway (USA makes one with the paint scheme of a loco at a museum I used to volunteer at).
@DTrigger05 I can relate to the pricing- that is a bit much for an engine! I only Mentioned the CB&Q because the "Everywhere West" line was is in UP's area too and Burlington and Union Pacific often were seen lashed together in late 1950s and into 1960s- besides, in my opinion the red and yellow colors of both roads together looks sharp!
@1BoyAwesome Currently it doesn't lead anywhere. But when we get done working on all this stuff again, the switch in front of the tunnel and the switch at the end will lead to a siding that runs to one of the two layouts in the backyard (which will also have a siding leading to the second, so eventually a train will be able to run through all three).
if u dont mind me asking how much was this and where did u get it because ive always wanted one of these expesally a very long wone like this and y do u need to sprinkle dirt and roks between the tracks even for a tiny modle on like this
@seelder Well, first and foremost, tiny is probably the wrong word to use. The smaller steam locomotive you see, the New York Central, is probably between a foot and a half to two feet long. As for price, a similar engine to that is retailing for about $700, but if you shop around you may be able to find it cheaper.
Before the camera started moving, I thought the track went across the driveway! Also, at 1:27, that track that intersected the one the train was on, was it the same track that had split off the mainline before the train entered the tunnel?
I would rather have it in my back garden because what if a vandal came and smashed it up, you cant keep anything really in your front garden here in the UK without someone trying to break it.
Same things happen her in Australia, if you went to the effort of putting down a nice model railway in your front yard, sure as hell some unemployed teenage bastards, with nothing better to do, would get enjoyment out of smashing it up for you, and peeing on the wreckage afterward
yeah i had a little outside train layout around a few trees. the pyscho kid across the street, while i was working on it, (putting down buildings, painting unskinned trains) decided the stomp around and he ended up bending the rails to the point where i coudlnt run the trains there. since then i have a little barbed wire fence around the most open parts of my layout
did you do anything to the redtard shoot him with a bean bag gun.....................bb gun.................tell his parents to replace it sue lol jk but what did u do
Don't use one. Use wireless control, yes, but it's not DCC. The parallel sections of track are wired so that power is only supplied to the line the switch is set to.
Never snows in San Diego...Well...it did once, but I'd hardly call it "real" snow.
Even if it does, however, the tracks and buildings are built to withstand it. The locomotives and rolling stock on the other hand should be inside a weatherproof building...a shed, or in the house.
One heck of a nice railroad you have! I am a garden railroader as well, and I have a ton of G scale videos on my profile if you want tot check those out!
Very nice video!!!!

The snow should really not be any problem for thees trains, there build to tackle the outdoor use.

Large scale sure sounds very good. The ability of the larger speakers to convey the bass frequencies is the key.
