A number of erroneous posts below. FWIW, its a B6 S4 and has 4.2L V8 with 344hp at the crank stock. Fix the airbox and open the exhaust and is probably in the 350 range. And as to why the driver sucks, just watch the vid. No research needed. Very poor reaction time and with AWD should hook up right away with the traction control off. At the end of the day, put both these cars on the track and the Audi would post the quicker lap. Really, if you want to win in a straightt line, buy a Ford.

Still, the Audi toasted the BMW on that run. Do I beat every 335i I come up against? No. But worst case its a draw and I'm pretty happy that my 5 year old car can beat a brand new 335...most of the time.

The S4 is obviously a Quattro and will take the BMW off the line for a short distance. The 335i makes 300Lb feet of torque at 1400 RPM and should make up the jump very easily. The newer S4 is a different animal.

Displacement gives a care a flatter torque band and just plain more torque. You can have a 3 liter V12 that makes 600 horsepower but its not going to be putting out and halfway respectable torque numbers, and the low-end torque numbers would be nothing compared to a 6 liter V8 making 500 horsepower. No replacement for displacement.
