The English are not half German...we are a mixture of italian, spanish, Norse, German, French and god knows what else..Good old mixed race people, just about like every other race in Europe and beyond. @lovemaker1972, yeah some of those bands that you mention are good metal bands but nothing compares to british metal bands. the english not only invented it...the perfected as well. Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Motorhead, Saxon, Iron Maiden, and before there was heavy metal british rock and progressive rock bands like Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Wishbone Ash set the ground work for heavy music.

Saxon played live at an open air motorbike festival near me in Italy about 3 years ago. Tickets were only 10 Euros to get in, free if you pulled up on a bike! They rocked!! They played this and wheels of steel and... LOVED THEM!!!!!!! \m/

At the time it was tops.. Now the video is a little embarrising but Saxon and their music is ultimate... One thing the girlie videos of 85 did was to bring more hotties to Saxon concerts.. It's not the commercial cover of a Christopher Cross number (a brave thing to do, actually) that bothers me, but the way they changed their image and wardrobe to suit the pissant glammy tastes of MTV and Much Music at the time. Keep in mind that Judas Priest covered Joan Baez, Spooky Tooth and Fleetwood Mac, and were big fans of Joni Mitchell. Can you blame them? They had good taste.

It certainly doesn't sound like Saxon's late '70's / early 80's NWOBHM beginnings, but... well... they were trying to gain a larger US audience by softening their sound.
