I've not yet understand why they named this game "Final Fantasy XIII", it's a total different game from the predecessor, why didn't they give it another name, they could create another brand with this game, and at the same time (or after) they could create another (true) final fantasy, or better, they could stop to create them, and leave the old masterpieces in peace. But, Square Enix, you just can't do that. You're using the fame of the brand of "final fantasy" for a market purpose.
...I wish that the classic fanfare was used, too, but that's not how it happened, so let's move on. I like this song. The intro feels like some great action just wrapped up, and then the rest is very peaceful and relaxing.
Side Note: If Square kept making clones of the past games, the brand would cease to exist because it would become tired. If you don't like it, simply play your favorites and let the new crowd come in. The FF series has been getting major facelifts since 7.
@bangsmccoy12 the only thing in 13 that is evolved is the graphics, otherwise the battle system is FF X-2 with more speed and less options. outside of the battle system the world works like an adventure game and 13-2(the one I like) works like sonic or mario (level 1....level 2...etc) though it is subjective most of the music in both games are very mediocre and are not used well or in tuned with the theme of the game. this is a devolution an evolution adds on to the product not take away.

I honestly hate it. Personally I do think tradition is important and certain elements of final fantasy should remain intact. A final fantasy without a chocobo, a cid or the victory fanfare might as well be another game without the FF tag and no one would be the wiser.
@CharacterLimit I know there is a chocobo there. What I meant is these are elements that I think are important in a FF game. Remove them and the game might as well be called something else and no one will notice.
@emperium108 Agreed, but 13 also fixed some traditions, like going back into a battle scene, and even returning to turn based elements in the battle system, while 12 while it was still turn based in a sense, was just walking around and stabbing stuff that was walking around, no battle scene really, which disapointed me. But the only thing on my mind right now about square is if they're going to fully redo FFX, or just port it and make it 1080p. Because if they mess FFX up I'm gonna be pissed lol
I'm being honest here, I personally think that the original Fanfare SUCKED. It was a bit annoying, hearing it OVER and OVER. This is refreshing, makes it sound like they're sticking to what little hope they have left, hence the hum singing. So stfu and enjoy, or get off the track.

One thing Final Fantasy's all had in common was tradition. From the 80's till like forever.... the Fanfare started the same way, all the time. Kinda like an inside joke. Till now. One thing you should never do is kill a tradition....

I watched my dad play the first Final Fantasy while I was still in diapers, and I STILL love and accept FFXIII. Nostalgia is great and all, but so is change. And change is inevitable. FFXIII was just like any other FF: it had an amazing story, which is what matters.

Well, I'm 16 as well. It's hard to believe that little shit is my age. Anywho, the only FF games I've played are I, II, III and I'm in the middle of IV, and I certainly don't love them all. II had a terrible leveling system, but I bet that guy would praise it just because it's old. But like you said, the stories are good enough to keep you hooked, and that's exactly what II did. I couldn't care less about graphics, dude. Look at 7. It had horrible graphics. The Command Synergy system is quite an improvement over the usual ActiveTime system from 4-9. Being able to control one character adds a new element of challenge to the game. And Orphan was a lame final boss, but at least story elements foreshadowed him, unlike Necron from IX. Now, if you want to continue this incredibly nerdy debate with me, let's do it through messages.

I didn't mind 7 and 8 (they weren't too "futury") and 10 was ok because of the "regression" aspect, but I agree that the medieval theme fits the franchise best.
Great game but.....they should have never gotten away from the traditional victory song. Final Fantasy is KNOWN for that song. Its almost essential to have it.
When I hear this by itself i think of when ff13 came out in Japan, and i bought the soundtrack. I coudln't wait because the music took me on a journey that was way cooler than anything i'd ever experienced, but when i played the game i didn't feel this way. I also was sad when the AMAZING battle theme grew old after I fought like 4000 battles
This is what happens when people are too stuck on nostalgia.. it's time to move on and accept the fact that all Final Fantasy games are their own work of masterpiece and not every game is designed to be like FF7. Jeez.

@PaperRayman Just ignore him, man. He's 16 years old. There is no such thing as "NOSTALGIA" for a kid that age. I watched my dad play the first Final Fantasy while I was still in diapers, and I STILL love and accept FFXIII. Nostalgia is great and all, but so is change. And change is inevitable. FFXIII was just like any other FF: it had an amazing story, which is what matters.

Well, I'm 16 as well. It's hard to believe that little shit is my age. Anywho, the only FF games I've played are I, II, III and I'm in the middle of IV, and I certainly don't love them all. II had a terrible leveling system, but I bet that guy would praise it just because it's old. But like you said, the stories are good enough to keep you hooked, and that's exactly what II did. But I digress.

They seriously should have just made this a spinoff. I think A LOT more people would accept this game as a FF had it stuck with tradition. Otherwise,if you're going to change a game in a legendary franchise this much, you might as well call it something else. I wanted FF, not a different game with the name FF.

I couldn't care less about graphics, dude. Look at 7. It had horrible graphics. The Command Synergy system is quite an improvement over the usual ActiveTime system from 4-9. Being able to control one character adds a new element of challenge to the game. And Orphan was a lame final boss, but at least story elements foreshadowed him, unlike Necron from IX. Now, if you want to continue this incredibly nerdy debate with me, let's do it through messages.

I didn't mind 7 and 8 (they weren't too "futury") and 10 was ok because of the "regression" aspect, but I agree that the medieval theme fits the franchise best.

When I hear this by itself i think of when ff13 came out in Japan, and i bought the soundtrack. I coudln't wait because the music took me on a journey that was way cooler than anything i'd ever experienced, but when i played the game i didn't feel this way. I also was sad when the AMAZING battle theme grew old after I fought like 4000 battles
