@OneOfAKind98 they cut hm cause his his training camp performance, it was never working out. he wasnt playing like a pro bowl safety anyway, besides Abe Elam is better
MAAAAN just listen what the commentator says: like 3 interceptionof the day(2nd quarter) 2nd ruturn touchdown (first quarter just over) unbelievable !!!
@dannygranger3 I hope he will be the starter by next year. If Alan Ball doesn't look good or needs to play corner, I wouldn't mind one bit with Akwasi backing him.
i know it was against small school competition but he just toyed with them lik he was in a whole other class he could hav easily played for usc or lsu hes goona be good might take a little while though
he turns what look like short returns into open field bursts of atleast 20 yards or more.hes good at coverage to so he is a threat as far as im concerned.
@gabe8102 O_o Not to Hell with Bryant lmao I'm excited about Owusu-Ansah too but just as much as I am about Bryant and Sean Lee, and even Sean Lissemore
This guy has missed all the OTAs but he is expected back for preseason. He is behind but this guy is talented. He is a very strong corner with great speed. I think its his shoulder. Tough break but lets hope Ansah can take the punt return duties from Dez so he can concentrate on receiver?
How many times do Cowboy haters get clubbed on the head with a baseball bat by Dallas drafting superstars yearly before they quit and buy a Cowboy jersey!? lol
@allthingsclassicrock i can answer that, in high school initially his claim to fame was as a rb (i know because we were on the same team), all of the major schools saw that despite the stats, he didn't have the running style to exceed a the higher level as a rb, so they passed over him, the school that took him saw way to much potential in him to let it waste, and converted him to cb, the college stuff is from what i've read with a little research
For Those Doubters Ever Heard Of A Guy Named DARREN SHARPER? He Went To WIlliam & Mary A Small School And Look At Him Great NFL Career And A Superbowl Ring With The Saints
@dallas5sb yea i know hes from william & mary 7th rounder hopefully he can produce. he has another 7th round mentor JAY RATLIFF! that man is a MONSTER best NT in the biz hands down
Great pick by Dallas,6-0 207lbs,with physical strenghth speed and quickness, can play corner, safety, maybe even running back. For those doubters there have been alot of great NFL players that were drafted from small colleges. Look at how many 1st round NFL draft prospects from major colleges are bust like Ryan Leaf.
He's a great addition! HOWEVER, he's hurt and he played against DII schools! So don't get your hopes up. I HOPE he will live up to the hype! GO COWBOYS.............AMERICAS TEAM!
all man Everybody is in trouble now we got a randy moss in dez bryant and we got a brian urlacher in sean lee and now we got a ed reed in akwasi AKA PICK 6 all 31 teams is in trouble now GO COWBOYS!!!!!!!
I think this guy could really help us out as a Safety and special teams. I would not mind at all having this guy and Sensabaugh in the back, helping out T-New, Jenkins, and now Wall. Welcome to the best team in the world, The Dallas Cowboys...good luck..........................
this dude is a playmaker doesnt matter what school he went.....he catches everything with his hands...for a DB thats great especially a safety..this guy was a steal in the draft
Akwasi can return kickoffs and punts for Americas' Team while Dez gives our kicker a charley horse kicking extra points! lol You haters make me laugh!
I can see everyone else is like me, who the heck is Akwasi Owusu-Ansah??? Then you watch this and like, We got this guy in the 4th, F-ING AAAA! Go Cowboys, host your own SB 2011
Did anyone else notice @ 2:49 that the announcer said "3rd interception of the day for Akwasi Awusu-Ansah!" and yet there was still 10:38 left 2 go in the 2nd Quarter at that time??!!! LOL! Way to go Jerry Jones..great pick :)
WOW that last punt return was amazing. Bad tackling, but kudos to Akwasi. He looks like he's got a great jump in him, he'll be a good complement to the Dallas secondary
While he does have talent, he looks like a stud against other Div II players. Having said that, I feel he will struggle in the NFL. Potential bust but we'll see.
@DallasJRC He was a 4th round pick. Not like they took him with a 1st or 2nd. The dude is an experimental/development type guy. Hence the 4th round draft status.
I understand that. But if you follow the Boys like i do, you would know that Campo has already named him the starter. Which is a joke. He is why we went 5-11 3 years in a row. I hope he plays solid though.
@DallasJRC They have not named him the starter. Campo is high on Alan Ball. In fact Campo is on record saying the FS spot is set for Alan Ball. You are either smoking something or getting bad information.
@pgh5002 Cowboys secondary coach Dave Campo confirmed that fourth-round DB Akwasi Owusu-Ansah will start out at safety. "He's an excellent athlete -- an outstanding athlete for a safety -- and we're going to start him at safety," said Campo. "And we feel like it's going to be the position for the future for him." Owusu-Ansah has free safety size with impressive speed and athleticism
@DallasJRC Key words are "start out". He is saying they will play him at safety as opposed to corner as he was projected as both. He is not reffering to the starting position.
@DallasJRC Campo is saying that since he moved from Cornerback to Safety, that his main priorities will be to take on the responsilities of playing at Safety, rather than CB. Unless they sign a FA, there will most likely be a competition between Hamlin and Ball for the starting job, much like the Jenkins/Scandrick comp. heading into last season. The only playing time he will get outside of the pre-season will be ST, but I'm excited to see how well he will do in a Cowboys uniform.
Awesome job by the scouts to find this kind of athlete so deep in the draft. I'm looking forward to seeing how he progresses over the next year or two.
By no means am I calling this guy Ed Reed...yet, but in watching Ed his entire NFL career, thus far -- Akwasi reminds me of Ed alot once he gets the ball in his hands after a pick. He just seems to have a nose for the endzone.
Great pick for the Cowboys, looks like he could play running back, safety and corner. I know he is from a small college, but players such as Walter Payton,Larry Allen,Jerry Rice,Steve McNair, Randy Moss, and Doug Williams came from small college programs.
I know its a D2 school prospect, but I am really excited to have this guy on the Cowboys. Dave Campo will coach this guy up nicely. We may have gotten a steal with this guy.
This really college??? look like high school players.
Looks to be a good addition to Dallas. U can see him getting a lot of tackles on special teams, which is prolly maybe why they got him. But wow, some of these runs are insane. Maybe the 4th or 5th CB on team.
Jesus Crist ! how many touchdowns did he get? Thats what you get when you put a very talented player in a small school, TD's. Dez Bryant, i've seen little on returns, Akwasi Owusu-Ansah, you the man. COWBOYS!!!!
Wow I am impressed by this video. Good Job Cowboys! I can see why they got him. Corner or Safety and kick off or punt returns is what we are lacking. I can't wait to see him in action.
Great job, Cowboys.... the way things are looking.... a lightning quick, offense.... with an already shut down defense, not including the four rookies that didn't play last year..... (on defense) great, great, draft.
THIS guy plays more like a safety they dont show him on man to man cover but he does look good i think a lot of teams are afraid to take a chance on him since he never played on a higher level but i think if he is still there in the fourht round the raiders could take him NA needs some help on the other side of the ball
Straight from a scout "Owusu-Ansah is a project in the making he has to mold, he played against much lesser competition than a Raymond from UNA. Raymond is pretty polished and has played against LSU, UF, UL, etc. Ansah is a little Bigger, but Raymond had more tackles in one season against the top of division 2 that Ansah did in his career. Just Depends on coaches." You be the Judge YouTube Vid: Cornerback David Raymond 31 North Alabama
lions are bouta get this kid. i would compare him to asante samuel. not a great tackler but gets many interceptions and can cover wideouts in short areas. only difference is he doesnt get baked deep. ran a 4.32 at his pro day and a 4.35 at his private workout. ive been following this kid for a while now.
@DetroitLionsFan981 looks like he dominated the competition. would love to see him in Detroit... he's got the size and speed, at 6'1 205 he might even be a safety.
AMAZING stuff...I think someone will fall in love with him and take him in the second. Look at the 2nd round last year and some of the safeties taken: Patrick Chung, Michael Mitchel, Darcel McBath, William Moore...a lot of bad safeties that failed to make an impact and a lot of teams who were willing to take a swing but missed. They'll be back at it this year.
Giants worked him out, hopefully they take him in the third round, we need a speedy returner and a viable option at safety if kenny phillips isnt as healthy as he wants us to think he is.
Heee went to my school!!!!!!!!!!

2:00 is ridiculous. Wrapped up at least 5 times. Dude is strong (tackling also bad, but oh well). Second coming of Nnamdi Asomugha?

AMAZING stuff...I think someone will fall in love with him and take him in the second. Look at the 2nd round last year and some of the safeties taken: Patrick Chung, Michael Mitchel, Darcel McBath, William Moore...a lot of bad safeties that failed to make an impact and a lot of teams who were willing to take a swing but missed. They'll be back at it this year.

Giants worked him out, hopefully they take him in the third round, we need a speedy returner and a viable option at safety if kenny phillips isnt as healthy as he wants us to think he is.

I want the BEARS to take this kid. We could move Tillman to FS and he could be our #1 CB.
