The one I'm talking about is called the ICON, and I used to go every year in May at Stonybrook College (NY). I haven't gone in a long time but I'd love to go back some day.
Funny when he said the voice of Daisuke is the same voice of Sesshomaru, in Mexico the guy who does Ranma's voice is the voice of one of Koga's closer friends in Inuyasha! Talking of a big role difference!
Yes I thought I heard that one! Good choice, because of the original version, which is the same guy too, I really wish they would have respected that in Mexico but they didn't, too bad
Wow and they sound so different, I would never imagine that one, you know a lot of these! ^^
Another mexican one: The actress that does the voice of Akane, is also the voice of one of Kagome's friends. Funny how the main characters in Ranma ended being the friends of the main characters in Inuyasha :)
You want to talk about polar opposites... I just got Captain N. the Game Master on DVD and found out that Princess Lana is voiced by Venus Terzo, the same voice actress as Girl-Type Ranma. Lana is as feminine a character as you could think of, and Ranma... as we all know, is burly, growly and nasty.
I think I got an episode of Captain N on VHS. It was included on this one tape containing all sorts of random TV shows. I only bought it for the James Bond Jr episode included on it. I might have a look at that Captain N, see if I can spot Ms Terzo.
Speaking of polar opposites, there's one I think my interest you, Scott.
Michael Sinterniklaas did the voice of Ataru Moroboshi from Urusei Yatsura. He's also famous for doing the voice Leonardo in Ninja Turtles. We all know how lecturous and perverted Ataru is. Whereas Leo is more diciplined and respectful of others. Would have been interesting to see a mutant turtle with raging teenage hormones though, lol.
That was him? Uch. No wonder why I was never keen on the UY English dub. That series could have been huge in the U.S. if they had just gotten the same guy who did the voice of Kintaro Oe from Goldenboy. He would've brought energy to that character!
what convention is he talking about

Apparently Viz Video would hold dubbing workshops at college sci-fi conventions.

Here's some more trivia. In the English dub the guy who does the voice of Ranma in seasons 4-7 is the same guy who does the voice of Inuyasha.

Another fun fact: the actresses who do the voices of Shampoo and Kasumi also do the voices of Yuka and Sayuri
