(In continuation of last comment) A good example of this is Mortal Kombat. Take 1-3 they were amazing and everyone loved them, but it all started to feel too similar, so the creators made spin offs and modified the main series. This caused the fans to say no, we don't like it and they kept on experimenting. This experimenting led the series to nearly be killed off when they had the magical idea of going back to the original feel and because it hadn't been done for a while, the fans loved it.

I find it funny seeing people bitch about this, the series is around 15 years old so it's expected that they experiment with the gameplay a bit. Personally I think it's cool to give it a new edge because it makes the game feel new, think of it this way. When a game starts to feel all a bit too much like the last one, they'll modify it to try find a new feel that the customers love, but normally end up going back to the original concept after it made the fans realise what made them like that game

@CrashBandicoot1990 Hi! =) The main reason they totallly changed of gameplay is that... Always the same doesn't attract the same ammount of players ! They get bored pretty quickly nowadays and want quick actions. it's like junk food: it goes quick, it tastes good but it's bad in its ingredients. :P Of course they kept with a story around the first ones in the fourth and fifth episode but you can clearly tell they rushed a bit too much the scenario to get more action. I prefer the old ones too!:)
