3d is cheaper than 2d... that 1 major reason for the change.... plus 3d is really easy to upgrade where as 2d you have to draw new sprites and animation for each upgrade...

Street Fighter has to have a 2d feel, this isn't tekken. If a fighting game is 3d it doesn't have to have side step, just look at Battle fantasia, it's 3d and there isn't any side stepping, it's one of the funnest fighting games out there too.

Tekken 6 is gonna put the kybosh on this! The only decent thing about SFIV is that they're reviving old fighters, but leaving out so many others. Tekken 6 is bringing nearly the entire character roster together. That way, EVERYONE'S satified.
