What they need is the reliable sophisticated public transportation system such as subways and metro railways. One of the primary reasons why the metro movement is stuck is because of messed up traffic. Geepneys and tricycles are not the way to handle city transportation. I also notice people don't walk much in these developing countries' major cities.

We have a very beautiful country. Metro Manila is really amazing. There are a lot more big projects to come including the TRUMP TOWER MANILA which will be one of the most tallest buildings in the Philippines. God Bless the Philippines.

Skyscrapers for condos, offices, commercial establishments, entertainment, recreation, etc. are on the rise. Philippines is slowly regaining the stellar status it once had - Asia's economic powerhouse and rightfully so coz of the hardworking Filipino workforce and its enthusiastic people. It's about time, for the sake of the country so the other countries in the region or any in the world to stop seeing the Philippines as the sick man of asia. Such a beautiful country with so much to offer to be looked down Philippines was one of the riches country in the world, but the marcoses ruined it, why aren't they in prison? Read an article the Philippines is 2nd to South Africa when it comes to Gold reserve (i.e. Gold mines). Philippines is rich in Gold yet too many living in poverty

@vcases - I think the Philippine government should start collecting taxes from the church because not all monies go to helping the poor and church activities. Monies from donation earn interests and are being used to finance enterprises like universities and hospitals. Most of the universities and hospitals charge exhuberrant fees beyond the reach of a regular Juan dela Cruz , even more the poor which the church was supposed to help.

What can be done is for the govt to do what it's mandated to do and that is to provide basic services to people, including reproductive health and make sure that every Filipino has equal opportunity to education, employment, welfare, services, wealth, etc. Foremost, the state should prioritize the well-being of its citizens and not the foreigners' and themselves. Filipinos must find a way to destroy their systems of inefficiency and corruption.

@bb89670 - Sick man of Asia term is a term used to describe China in late 19th and early 20th century coz of internal strife/division and forced by Western powers into unequal treaties culminating in the invasion by Japan in WW2. Philippines is still a very rich country in terms of natural resources but we have to make sure that the people of the Phil get the most benefit from mining those minerals and not the foreigh multinationals that destroy the environment and take the money with them.
