I'm an ex-member of Lumsk. Guitarist and writer of most of the music on the first album Åsmund Frægdegjevar. I'm currently preparing new studio recordings - Visit bselsbak at MySpace.
Listening to their music for the first time today and loving it. To me their sound is like a fusion of celtic and german industrial rock. Very unique and nothing like it in the United States. Rock on you bad ass Vikings!
jeeez, what's wrong with u ppl??? if u don't understand a kind of music, u don't need to show us u're stupid! it's folk metal by the way and lumsk rock at it...so what if she has a violin, can u play an instrument as well as she does, u idiot?
BAHAHAHAHAHAHA I WATCHD THE END HAHAHAHAHHA THAT NIGGA GONNA BLOW A BLOOD VESSEL CUZ HE SO CONSTIPATED WIT THAT BITCH VOICE HAHAHAHAHAHA sounds like a lil banshee cunt
Okay first off learn to spell??? And if its that bad why bother watching till the end, eh smart one? And just to clearify for you, you can have a violin in a metal band, especially a folk metal band at that. Damn nigga you stupid....FWI: tool sucks tu tarado entrenado!
Yeah, her name is Siv Lena Waterloo Laugtug and as far as I know she and her husband Ketil Sæther (who was also in Lumsk) quit the band in order to raise their kid.
This song is from a socalled concept-album, in this case covering the story of Åsmund Frægdegjævar who went into the mountain to rescue the daughter of the king of Ireland.
And this particular song is about the meeting between Åsmund and the troll Gyvri.
This song's tune is strikingly simelar to the tune of the Swedish band, Finntroll's "Asfågelns Död" However Lumsk has a different text. No idea if this was a cooperation or witch one of them is the original, both was made in the year 2003. Anyone know more on this matter?
I've heard both, and I hear no resemblance to be honest. It's folk metal, so that could explain it. Every song Korpiklaani's brought out is a remake of sorts.
So your saying this may be just based on the same folk song? ye, that can be a posibility. But still, some points how the songs can be played simultainusly and I could hardly make out the diffrences (if ignoring the lyrics ofc.) only major diffrence i noticed was that finntroll has no violin. So it kinda suprises me that you don't find these to songs simelar to eachother at all.
Thanks for the sheding some light on the matter tho.
Dude, Finntroll are not swedish. They sing and write lyrics in an old swedish text, but the band hail from Finland. Their singer (till last year) is Wilska from Savonlinna and the main songwriting force Trollhorn (Henri Sorvali) is from near Helsinki (also songwriter for Moonsorrow, another awesome Finnish pagan metal band). You are right however, this song sounds a lot like the Finntroll song. Many folk metal bands do this. Like Tyr use many Faroese folk melodies and in their songs.
I just assumed that the band was Swedish since the lyrics where, thanks for correcting me. however i was aware of bands might be pulling inspiration from the same source, but i have never heard a song that sound this similar. But i guess its a good chance for them not to be related at all, was just wondering. Thanks again for the feedback tho.
Yeah, actually Lumsk is my favorite band, and I like this song but damn this video is... the one of the worst I've seen lol, that's true it's pretty funny.
Thanks, Not that you care but I have some cousins that live in Norway. One of their names is Silje and she was pretty cool. She is like 16 and she lives in Trondhiem. But thanks again! +)
Everyone thinks if it is folk metal, the band is Finnish. Damned Finns are trying to take over the world. And by the way, the title of this song is "I Lytinne Tvaa"
