This is more hardware to software ip change. If you use the actual windows syntax it should be much easier and it stays forever. It is more of a proxy server actually so it ends up changing location.

This definitely helped me out. I'm not sure if it's my ISP doing this or not but if i play any online game, rather it be everquest ii or second life or even WoW, i sometimes get disconnected. When i try to connect to their websites firefox tells me they are unable to find a server at suchandsuch domain. I usually have to wait about 10 minutes til i can get back in. Today i was locked out of SL for 1 hour so i decided to reset my IP and got back in fine. Thanks to this vid. :)

This doesn't work. The best way to change your ip address is to call your isp and request a new one. Another way, though it is slower, is to check when your ip lease expires, disconnect your modem overnight, and plug it back in in the morning after it is set to renew the lease. My suggestion is to call your isp. Source - 10 years experience as a system admin

I found out how to get new ip.

Enter your router setting and look for "Router Status" next click on " connection status" finally click on " Release" DO NOT CLICK ON RENEW.

Logout of the router setting page.

Next unplug the modem and router power plugs.

No need to shut down computer....

just let the modem and router stay unplugged for 5 to 10 mins (depends on the isp) plug the power adapters back in the router and cable modem and you should get new ip address like I did.
