Hey all, no real point as to cause but watching the videos of dead birds and animals on the ground it struck me how similar this looked to fossil beds found within/below the KT boundary. I always wondered how so many animals could become trapped in mud slides etc how can there be so many untouched carcasses perfectly preserved without being scavenged, in some cases large groups seem to have just perished where they stood. Hey all, no real point as to cause but watching the videos of dead birds and animals on the ground it struck me how similar this looked to fossil beds found within/below the KT boundary. I always wondered how so many animals could become trapped in mud slides etc how can there be so many untouched carcasses perfectly preserved without being scavenged, in some cases large groups seem to have just perished where they stood. Could whatever happened back then be linked to what we see here?

Look for the small things too.. Where are the bees, mosquitos, ants, spiders, butterflies, fireflies etc? Here in the midwest the summer bugs are usually everywhere. Now its seems like most (not all) are gone. Look for the detail that you used to see a year or two ago. The tiny and sensitive eco system is dying. Life adapts quickly but something is killing off the instinct of life. It looks like a chain reaction and we humans will be the last to know.
