He was probably a runaway monk because the manuscript for the poem was found in a barn in 1803 and is about mainly nature, love, and drunkenness. Carl Orff (pronounced "Ohff") set the text to music in 1935. O Fortuna is the 1st of 21 poems in Carmina Burana and the most famous.
