In the Japanese version Chocobuckle damage is: Amount of times you've run from battle x Caster Level = Damage.

In the American version it's just the amount of times you've run from battle with no modifier.

So in order to do 9999 in the American version you would have to run from battle 9999 times...theoretically you could also kill Sephiroth with chocobuckle....it would just take a long time.

I don't have the patience right now to run away 9,999 times. And I'm not buying a gameshark for ps1. But if that's what someone else finds entertaining, all the better for them.

I'd rather use spells with multiple attacks than Chocobuckle, ala KOTR.

Chocobuckle=1 damage per times you've run away in the game. One of the lamest attack spells in the game.

In the original japanese version the damage = (times you've run away) * (your current level). People have managed to abuse this in speed runs.

Yeah, in the Versus FF7 guidebook I have it talks no doubt about the Japanese version of the trick, which would have been nice since Chocobuckle only costs 3MP. Still, KOTR looks much, much cooler (and gives you an opportunity to grab a soda while you wait).

the "weird" japanese text is the player's current inflicted status onto that player. It was removed when Square-Soft made the English version.

u used a glitch 2 get ur hp 2 read out in japanese,right?i've seen a video where 1 of the characters (barret or vincent) hits over 9999 damage with the help of some hero drinks and the deathblow materia and their hp glitches out 4 some odd reason.
