This is circa late 1970's/early 1980's before he had his second and wildly popular 'Cosby Show'. I used to watch this on the evil liberal PBS when I was a kid. I still want that marker!!
Bill Cosby's Picture Pages. You can't be a kid without that. Yes,that has to be a rerun filmed before The Cosby Show. Cosby,or anyone else for that matter, could not handle such a large workload.
It wasn't back then because we were allowed to actually have a childhood. Stuff like this was completely innocent and no one even thought about it like that. Parents were allowed to spank their children and we became better (or wiser) because of it.
I forgot about the blippity-bloop noises the pen makes. LOL Mark Mothersbaugh (of Devo fame) does a drawing segment on Yo Gabba Gabba, and his pen makes noises like that, too. I didn't realize it was an homage to this!
@c135977w I had it and it actually made those sounds. It has a pressure sensitive tip that made the sound when it was pushed down on paper from using it to write.
It did! I bought these pens for my 5 children when the series was first aired, and the pen made the same sounds when they used it. Irritating, but worth the giggles!
@c135977w I used to get SO mad because my pens/markers/pencils didn't make that sound! Haha. Makes me laugh reading that you thought along the same lines. HAHA
So did anyone else but me think that Mortimer marker actually made those sounds? Also, I had no idea he was using a dry erase clear board. He doesn't even WRITE ON THE PAPER!!!!! He's writing on top of glass or plexy glass. WOW!!!!
OMG I remember this from when I was a kid. I even talked my parents into ordering a few of the books and marker so I could work the pages with Bill...OMG......watching this again makes me feel SOOOO OLDDDD. Thumbs up if you remember this show from your childhood!!
After going over these older kids shows I feel so sad because this was the time I was growing up...pre 10 y/o, also my mom who dies recently used to sit by me and give me lunch.
I also analyze some of these, such as this one, and maybe I am crazy but see how this co-habitation of the worm and bird as a metafor for two gay guys living together...jeeze I am so fucked up. Must have been caused by my step father touching me when I was 11. lol
Oh god this makes me sick. My sister used to watch this every morning, and after this part was when the bus came for school, and I hated/dreaded school.
I remember these segments on Captain Kangaroo when I was preschool age! I wanted a picture pages workbook but nobody knew where to get one. :/ But mostly I wanted that freakin musical marker. lol
I'm delighted to hear Willington and Booker T got along so well together. I wish more roommates were like Willington. No one wants to clean the basement.
@stupidflounders I think everyone LOVED that pen! The sounds weren't real according to many. I remember this show when I was young, part of the first Nick generation. I am 32 years old. You?
My markers did make noises. When I was a kid I made them. Later on I got older and went to school to make art and guess what my sharpie markers and dry erase started making sqeaky noises at times.
Wow, until now I could never remember the name of the show with cosby's musical marker. I must say it is rather disappointing that the marker really doesnt make any noise, but oh well lol
Yeah the Worm cleans the basement eatin' the bird shit getting fat, and the restaurant was the Birds idea, because the main course will be the Fat Worm! In house food!
Wellington? Booker T? COLONIAL STYLE BIRDHOUSE??? L O L!!! Was this written beforehand or was this all made up on the spot? I love how the first 60 seconds has NOTHING to do with the connect-the-dots segment. Cos wus da man.
