Interesting comment from a guy who's channel title is "TALES FROM THE MALL"
Might as well be TALES FROM SUBURBIA" i.e. not worth caring about!
Think I'll stay focused on caring about energy descent, climate change, and whether the current generation will be among a few in the past 74 thousand years to face extinction.
Peak oil is like climbing the highest hill, then discovering the next higher one. Sure, at one point you'll reach himalaya, but no one knows where the himalaya of oil reserves lies. Atlantic? Pacific? Antarctica? Greenland? USA? Recent estimates say we have enough known reserves for 300+ years at current demand, + 1000 years of coal that can be transformed into fuel oil. None of us will be alive at peak, which is why they now beat the Global warming drum, to squeeze us for more money.
This is actually pretty good. It's not just stockbrokers, the guy in the video could be thought of as "Mr. average earth inhabitant" at this point. I have seen where people say 'Not one in 50 or 100 have any inkling of what is coming" more like one in a thousand it seems. Amazing how psychology tells us when people are confronted by massive problems the tendency is to ignore them.
When I talk to people in cities, they seem much more aware of Peak Oil than those in the suburbs. Methinks it's more denial than anything else. Can't face a problem if your job depends on *not* facing it.
One way I prepared for peak oil was converting my home to a net-zero solar powered home that uses no oil or gas..I made a video about it called, "Preparing for Peak Oil"....
PEAK OIL is a real problem and there is NO real solution to it. 30 years from today you will see total economic collapse, you will see lots of conflicts fighting for the last bits of oil... 100 years from now civilisation a syou know it will be no longer be.. This is the end of the golden age!! No amount of solar energy or any other energy will provide you with energy to match fossil fuels Nuclear Energy is too damn unstable and what are you going to do with Nuclear Waste!!!
what about the alberta oil sands 100years of oil are there, plus there is oil everywhere undiscovered huge reserves you need to realise how big this planet is they still havent touched the arctic and you can bury nuclear waste
@DEATHBYGHANDI, no I'm not being sarcastic, I'm being serious. We have plenty of oil and other natural resources. If we are running out of oil why oil is only 80 a barrel?
Funny sarcastic video. But what can an average person really do? I guess we are pretty much all heading up shit creek. To bad public transportation, and alternative energi, has been such a foul word to americans for so long.
If everyone here didn't pickup that this is actually a sarcastic satire then you are all dumb as bird shit ???? The point that he is making is so true that its not funny... It is this type of thinking (which he is highlighting) that is ultimately going to doom the human race.. Wake up everyone ??
Oh sure, when the oil finally does run out we will find a way to get through it. It'll be the same way we have with every other earth-shaking crisis.
Simple logic should tell you that everything on this planet is finite, including oil. Even oil companies are admitting that supply is starting to lag behind demand and the only way to cover the gap is with alternative fuels.

Oil is a finite resource. Driving our SUVs less won't solve the problem. How does the food you buy arrive at the supermarket? On a magic carpet? No! Trucks that spend lots of fuel. China and India are demanding more. The ratio of world pop. to energy production can't increase forever. 100 yrs ago there was a billion people, now there is 6.5. Pop. is growing exponentially, energy production isn't. All fact, indisputable. The only question is how long can our economy sustain itself?
This guy has never worked on a oil rig like me. There has never been easy oil and never will. I lost two fingers on a rig and kept working. I saw oil wells dry up every day. It is finite. It just doesn't come out of the blue and create itself.
I've seen this coming for a couple years now and have taken action to prepare. I quit fixing trucks and got a job fixing city buses, at a base that's close enough to bike commute to. I paid off all my debit. I'm putting away silver and gold. I've learned to eat really healthy and really cheap! I put away a year's supply of food and I'm starting a garden. I'm not ready but I'm less unready than most. See my videos for my peak oil plans. They're not cool but they provide info.
Took me a bit to realize this was a joke; but a point to Mr. Made Up Idiot Stockbroker, one way or another we WILL get through this. It may not be pretty, it may happen at the last possible minute, but humanity in general will survive. Hopefully we'll be a little wiser for it this time around.
Yeah, but that's how it goes. Far as I'm concerned we've needed this reality check for a long time... Mankind is not the undisputed master of his world, there are still things that can keep us in line.
Heh, thats what I think too. The fittest will survive. In a very twisted way, it may even be the best thing to happen to us in the long run.
One way or another, the world's population cant keep growing indefinitely as it has been for the last century. Nature has its way of evening the scores.....
Another comment for Einstein: when Bill says, "It's been that way for a hundred years," Al should think, "And it only took the lives and deaths of trillions of living things over hundreds of millions of years to make it, and we've only used up half of it so far during that hundred years you just mentioned."
You did not seriously just say "Rag heads" did you?
I am assuming you are joking.
How about... the oil is running out and getting more expensive to extract, the military is being sent to steal it from the countries that still have it, therefore gas prices go up.
Sell your Chevy while it's still worth something and get a bike.
the price of oil went up because we are at war with the middle east, American and Canadian oilfield workers wont work for a can of beans and a hock of goat like the rag heads do, so production cost go up, therefore gas prices do to. think on that oil peek dooms dayers!
Peak oil is sexy. Only the sexy, physically fit people will be able to survive and they will wear brown, furry underwear like Tarzan, and the women will wear coconuts and clamshells as bras and tiger-skin panties and grass skirts. That my friends, is the irrefutable proof of the sexiness of peak oil. Can you smell the fear?

It will be interesting to see how the masses react once they realize that their standard of living will be destroyed permanently....

Biogas! Old tech, simple and working NOW!!

A certain government is hiding LOADS of other stuff, patents included with the lame excuse of "national fuel security"
Why cant they just be honest for once and say GREED!!!
Max engine size of 2.5 litres might help!

Oil is an econeuroerotic concept, if you need it, it's
there. Or like Jerome Corsi, who ran for presodent,
says in his WorldNetDaily column & books,
if you dig those wells deep enough they will fill up on
there own. Where does it come from? It's created
continuously and brought to the surface by the
spinning of the earth on it's axis. Chuck Norris and
Pat Boone who also write for WND give it a thumbs
up. I'll have to ask energy expert Sarah Palin if
this is, in fact, a fact.

The way I look at it we may have to get rid of guys like you and me, but at least we'll be done with the likes of Paris Hilton and Britney Spears.
And yes, I agree that man is out of balance with his environment. Something that will come to haunt us sometime soon...

Yeah, once the demand exceeds the supply, we're going to have problems. It is indeed that simple.
