Beyond a doubt one of the best episodes of Dr Who in the now known history of Dr Who...Vincent Van Gogh his story is one all should know as part of HiStory and the human capacity within.
To be honest, I've not watched much Doctor Who, just the series with Tom Baker. However, I'm a writer and I'm all too familiar with the hopelessness that loving or creating art can bring. There is the possibility of not being recognized in a world where people don't have a love for art. As I watched this, I wept. I felt hope. I might be appreciated by countless people, heralded as the best in my genre or of all writers, even if it is after death. And I'm pretty sure this show just got a new fan.
@andybabig Wouldn't really work, I don't think. It's a nice sentiment, though. I think people would do things differently if they knew their work was going to have the impact that it does, and showing them that impact would change their course.
When the museum guy was praising Vincent I just felt my heart swell up with joy. Vincent is my absolute favourite artist. I adore Monet and Degas and I like Caravaggio and Bernini, but Vincent will always have my heart. And I think he described Vincent's talent and what he did wonderfully.
As much as i think that art may be a little bit of a joke that is not the point of this clip. Might i suggest that you actually watch the full episode and perhaps look up the history of Van Gogh a little bit and attempt to understand the hardship which he had to go through as a person BEFORE attempting to be a completely ignorant twat and spouting crap like "What a campy blood clot of a show".
Thumbs up if you cried the first time watching this.

If only you could do this for all the people that have contributed to this world, but were only truly recognised after their death.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
What a disgraceful portrait of an artist.
Vincent is in tears because his works are being gushed over by casual museum goers.
How very fucking lovely. Vincent, you are redeemed because museums deem it so.
What a campy blood clot of a show.
