@HeffernanJunior ....bonnie tyler released this song in 1982, it is one of the epic greats. glee's version is a "johnny-come-lately". she is still singing at age 61 and is still HOT!! as evidenced by this video which is about three years old. although several groups have covered this song, nobody has ever been able to equal bonnie's renditions of it

a few years ago, even before her hit A total eclipse of the heart she had surgery in order to remove some benignous nodules in her vocal cords. Her doctor TOLD HER NOT TO TALK IN A FEW WEEKS,BUT SHE DIDN'T LISTEN! As a result, a scar was formed in her vocal cords giving it that raspy sound, which made her famous with A total eclipse of the heart. Of course after more than 25 years, her voice has definitely gotten a little bit more raspy but that understandable.

Actually she had a very pure voice over three octaves, then she got some throat problem which required surgury, after that she was down to 1/1.5 octaves, so I think she did bloody good on anything after 1982
