dear sir that would be cool i dont care how long you have it. But anyway i like my new 25 caliber air gun its sweet seems like lots of power. but still not a benjamin mararder 22 caliber.
Rick, i have a Gamo big cat and i am having trouble with the factory scope. What kind of scope/rings do you suggest that i put on it that will hold up to the recoil? I was thinking of trying an 11mm to weaver rail and a cheap tasco red dot scope, do you think that the recoil would ruin it? Great videos by the way!
You are better off tossing their scope and getting a 1 piece accushot mount and a good leapers scope. That will hold up to the recoil. not sure about the red dot..
Maybe the RWS 350 Magnum.. but.. you really have serious accuracy issues when you try and go that fast. There is a reason that the airgun field target masters shoot for the low 900's in their guns. That is the "optimal" velocity in a .177 pellet. Going faster "sounds" cool.. but is very "un cool" when you constantly miss the target. You would do better with a solid 10.2 grn pellet at 790 then you will a 5 grn pellet at 1200.
I have a question, do you prefer a wood stock like on the Winchester 1000x or Crosman Titan, or do you prefer a composite stock like on the Phantom or Gamos
Hey Rick, i am 13 and i was wondering i want to get a decent pellet gun for under $150 bucks. I want to be able to take small game, such as squirrels and rabbits.
I was looking at the crosman phantom 1000. Would that be good for me? Or The daisy 880 powerline? i cant decide between the two.
I don't see a rogue crossing my desk anytime soon. It would take a massive shift in their internal policy. But, maybe if enough viewers rang their phone lines and email in-boxes, they may just send me one.
i am glad you give a more favorable review this time on the rifle. i find it very unique with the slide lever action and 5 shot repeater. i shoot at 100ft. with groups approximately twice the width of your results. Its a fun challenge to shoot this gun. I wont be trying the lead free pellets. too expensive. will stick with the gamo hunters. still waiting for that review of the co2 adaptor for the hammerli 850!
Thanks for reminding me about the co2 adapter.. It is on the list and it will fall under a rough cut production.. may October.. In the mean time, look up Bryan and Associates.. they have all the fittings to convert those 88 gram co2 disposables into refillables.
great review Rick!..but I'm curious as to why your scopes are never sighted in for the bulls-eye on your targets...I understand its the groupings that count....but getting that grouping dead center just makes the gun seem more capable and to the consumer would speak volumes about the guns accuracy Kee up the good work!!! (p.s. still waiting on that HW97K review.)..:)
I try.. but what you find, with spring guns specifically, is that slightest change in hold will change the point of impact. So when I get a group that will drill the bulls-eye, I just leave it and hope for the best when I shoot the video, trying to duplicate the exact hold for that group. If I get a tight group, I know the gun can shoot. I've got some PCP guns coming up soon. You'll see the difference with them.
Rick, did you know that the muzzle end is actually a screw-off cap which when taken off reveals a threaded end to fit a silencer? In addition to the putty, this makes shooting indoors even quieter. I have the exact same setup, it's a great gun for informal target shooting. Thanks for the review!
You're welcome :-) Please be careful when taking the muzzle end off, it can be quite well screwed on. I used pliers with a piece of cloth in between the teeth of the pliers and the muzzle cap, in that way you won't damage the cap.
@AirGunWeb About how much is this "impact puddy" and do you think I could get it at my local hardware stores? I've got a Home Depot and a Lowe's where I live. Granted, you may have not even heard of these stores lol.
Personally I think the gun is pretty darn ugly, but nevertheless a great review as always, and a BRILLIANT idea with the silent pellet trap! Gonna have to make one of those myself!

Hi Rick
Just wondering out of the .177 hunting rifles (1250 fps +) , which would you say is the best for accuracy?
Thanks Sean

Depends completely on the gun.. Some guns I prefer with composite, others I like wood..

Do you think stuffing a few socks in a small gamo pellet trap would provide the same desired effect?
lambchops1493 5 months ago
@lambchops1493
The impact of the pellets will tear them apart after a while.. The great thing about the putty is that it really grabs the pellets..

@lambchops1493
Sure.. just ask for "ideal duct seal" or "electrician's putty." They usually sell it in 1 pound bricks. So you'd need 2 and 1/2 for these traps.
