No, I saw the Man-U game. You're right. Ibrahimovic was nowhere to be found because the whole Man-U defense was on top of him. When one person is on top of another you can see the person in the bottom but when 4 people are on top of another person, it gets a little hard to see. No ...the whole team was NOT on top of him. The serb took care of him without any trouble. During the Championship playoff against Barca Ronaldo was the ONLY guy making an impact for Manu. Rooney completely fizzled. Nobody right now is as good as Ronaldo. Messi maybe a distant second.

He is certainly not even close to being the best winger right now because he can't even cross the ball accurately! To me Robben is way better winger than him.
Ronaldo shouldn't even be classified as a winger because he plays nothing like one. He's more of a centre attacking midfielder who runs down the wings a lot. It's not so much that he flicked it over the guy's head or did a step over. It's the angle and the part of the foot he used to score those goals. Statistics are a big force in the voting process and Ronaldo outplayed his counterparts there. This year I could almost bet that it will be Messi who will win the Player of the year because of his role in La Liga, CL, copa del Rey and he probably will help Argentina qualify for the WC. Last year Ronaldo won the Treble (I think) with the devils so that made a huge difference IMO. You'll see for yourself, if you follow Real Mad. next year, as to who is the better player between Kaka and Ronaldo.
It all depends on how they are judged. It seems like even when Ronaldo did not score for Manu he played a big part in the goal. I suspect his goals will go down playing for Madrid but we will see some beautiful passes from him. Regardless, Ronaldo and Kaka playing on the same team should be fun to watch and a serious problem for the other teams.
In ronaldo's highlights its more about his movements than his goals. He is an agile player but not the best goal scorer out there and definitely not better than Ibra. The Juventus goal of Ibra was from miles out and if you watch his highlights, he's just about scored from any angle because with him the teams change the formation to 5-4-1 where he's the only one up front. Though Ronaldo's efforts went wide in CL finals, that's where he showed promise,
- Euro cup finals in 2004 with Ronaldo for Portugal, out in the first round for Sweden with Ibrahimovic. Same amount of goals.
- 4th in the 2006 World Cup with Ronaldo for Portugal, out in the first round for Sweden with Ibrahimovic. Ronaldo had 1 more goal.
- Group winners in the 2008 euro cup with Ronaldo for Portugal (lost in 1st round to Germany who ended up in the final), Sweden lost in the group stages with Ibrahimovic. Ibrahimovic had 1 more goal.
Unfortunately it's not that simple because football is still a team game. As the main striker of Inter and Swedish football team, Ibra is the man whom they rely on to get them the goals. If the team's passing is lackluster or the opposition is molded into preventing the balls to get to Ibra, all he can do is stand and watch. He has to get opportunities to score. But when he does get opportunities, Ibra doesn't let it go. He is more efficient than ronaldo who in Man-U gets many oppurtunities.
But Ronaldo actually creates opportunities on his own, unlike Ibrahimovic who you've claimed just stands there and waits for the ball to come to him. He makes things happen on the field and even on days when his team struggles he can still do well on his own. Great players are supposed to carry a team, not stand around and watch your team struggle when they need you the most.
That's unfortunately the role difference. Ibra is a Striker and when he's up front he's limited to his options. Ronaldo is a winger and at his disposal are 2 strikers and 3 mid-fielders. I have to admit in the CL finals Ronaldo was the only one doing anything for the Devils but there are days when Ibra is the only one doing anything for Inter. Ronaldo is a great free kick taker but when it conmes to actual shots with pressure from defenders, he's not good. Ibra can score from anywhere any time.

No ...the whole team was NOT on top of him. The serb took care of him without any trouble. During the Championship playoff against Barca Ronaldo was the ONLY guy making an impact for Manu. Rooney completely fizzled. Nobody right now is as good as Ronaldo. Messi maybe a distant second.

Ronaldo is a great winger but I could argue the same case against Ronaldo that you are for Ibra. Just like Ibra missed close shots against Man-U when he got the chances, Ronaldo missed them against Barca. And again only Puyol was defending him. What's the age difference between the two guys? Still Ronaldo could not penetrate him to get better shots on Goal. I would take Kaka and Messi over Ronaldo. Have you compare the assists. Ronaldo as a winger should be more focused on his assists/his role.

2. How is the age difference relevant? It's not like they were in head-to-head sprints the whole game. At least Ronaldo created chances because Rooney and Manchester's entire midfield (Park, Giggs, Anderson, Carrick and Scholes) did absolutely nothing for the entire game.
3. Assists don't matter if you're scoring goals.. His assists have gone down in the last few years but his goals have gone up so it doesn't really matter..

I would take Kaka and Messi over Ronaldo too but I would NOT take Kaka OR Messi over Ronaldo. Neither would the Chairman for Madrid who should know a little bit more about it over both of us. He shelled out about 30 million more for Ronaldo. One of the major reasons ESPN is now carrying Spanish soccer is because of Ronaldo and they ought to know what they are doing since they make their living in sports. He does a great job in passing but lets face it, if you can score 42 goals who cares.

I would take Kaka over either. He's an excellent passer and is the best at his role. He creates excellent chances and does no mistake in scoring when he has the chance, as we've seen in the Conf. Cup and CL. Ronaldo is Fast and tricky but some of those moves he does are completely unnecessary. That's what we call dancing. He is certainly not even close to being the best winger right now because he can't even cross the ball accurately! To me Robben is way better winger than him.

Ronaldo shouldn't even be classified as a winger because he plays nothing like one. He's more of a centre attacking midfielder who runs down the wings a lot. I know what you mean by the limited options thing though.. Ronaldo plays striker for a lot of the Portugal games and he hardly scores because most of the team sucks now.
But come on, we all know Ronaldo can score from anywhere, anytime too. I'm sure you've seen his goals against Arsenal, Porto, etc.

He should play as an attacking midfielder if he's going to lean more on goal scoring. I would appreciate his talent much more when he has to face TWO Central defenders rather than one left back whom at certain times he just outruns. Ronaldo needs more space to score than Ibra. Have you seen Ibra's goals against Lazio and Italy? Top Goals that seem impossible to score IMO. And ofcourse the world famous Ajax play of Ibra where he beat 5 players and the GK to score. Haven't seen ronaldo there yet.

We all know the goal against Ajax was legendary but the other two weren't so great.. In one he just did stepovers right at a defender who was backing up when he was already pretty much at the box and the other one he barely flicked it and it just went right over the guy's head..
Ronaldo's goal against Porto seemed impossible, against Arsenal the commentator said "too far for Ronaldo to think about it", throw a bicycle kick in there.. At least Ronaldo can score on free kicks when Man U struggles

It's not so much that he flicked it over the guy's head or did a step over. It's the angle and the part of the foot he used to score those goals. Some of the top strikers can't chip the ball accurately over the goalkeeper in one on one situations but this guy does it against a team which became the winner of the WC in the 90th minute. The goal against lazio was a tough angle as well. I just wonder how he could move his legs like that. TBH I enjoy Ibra highlights more the Ronaldo's because of gol

Maybe you should tell the experts who voted him the worlds best where they went wrong. His passes are absolutely amazing. I really don't know if you have been watching the EPL but the guy certainly can pass the ball...oh he can score goals too.

Statistics are a big force in the voting process and Ronaldo outplayed his counterparts there. This year I could almost bet that it will be Messi who will win the Player of the year because of his role in La Liga, CL, copa del Rey and he probably will help Argentina qualify for the WC. Last year Ronaldo won the Treble (I think) with the devils so that made a huge difference IMO. You'll see for yourself, if you follow Real Mad. next year, as to who is the better player between Kaka and Ronaldo.

It all depends on how they are judged. It seems like even when Ronaldo did not score for Manu he played a big part in the goal. I suspect his goals will go down playing for Madrid but we will see some beautiful passes from him. Regardless, Ronaldo and Kaka playing on the same team should be fun to watch and a serious problem for the other teams.

In ronaldo's highlights its more about his movements than his goals. He is an agile player but not the best goal scorer out there and definitely not better than Ibra. The Juventus goal of Ibra was from miles out and if you watch his highlights, he's just about scored from any angle because with him the teams change the formation to 5-4-1 where he's the only one up front. Though Ronaldo's efforts went wide in CL finals, that's where he showed promise,

- 4th in the 2006 World Cup with Ronaldo for Portugal, out in the first round for Sweden with Ibrahimovic. Ronaldo had 1 more goal.
- Group winners in the 2008 euro cup with Ronaldo for Portugal (lost in 1st round to Germany who ended up in the final), Sweden lost in the group stages with Ibrahimovic. Ibrahimovic had 1 more goal.
Pretty clear who the winner is.

Unfortunately it's not that simple because football is still a team game. As the main striker of Inter and Swedish football team, Ibra is the man whom they rely on to get them the goals. If the team's passing is lackluster or the opposition is molded into preventing the balls to get to Ibra, all he can do is stand and watch. He has to get opportunities to score. But when he does get opportunities, Ibra doesn't let it go. He is more efficient than ronaldo who in Man-U gets many oppurtunities.

But Ronaldo actually creates opportunities on his own, unlike Ibrahimovic who you've claimed just stands there and waits for the ball to come to him. He makes things happen on the field and even on days when his team struggles he can still do well on his own. Great players are supposed to carry a team, not stand around and watch your team struggle when they need you the most.

That's unfortunately the role difference. Ibra is a Striker and when he's up front he's limited to his options. Ronaldo is a winger and at his disposal are 2 strikers and 3 mid-fielders. I have to admit in the CL finals Ronaldo was the only one doing anything for the Devils but there are days when Ibra is the only one doing anything for Inter. Ronaldo is a great free kick taker but when it conmes to actual shots with pressure from defenders, he's not good. Ibra can score from anywhere any time.
